As everything in life goes, people like us who own land in Ndeiya, 13 acres, are sitting on some of the most prime sought out real estate in Kenya, I can retire on that land alone. Jubilee has been a mega disappointment, especially coming with such high expectations. Ndeiya was mythical hardship area in myths of our childhood and so was Ndundori known for having daft people. Utondorete ta mundu wa ndunduri (you are as thick as someone from Ndundori) I wonder if the inhabitants of Ndundori were Dorobo or Gumbas. This is the only reason why kikuyus had this narrative of backwardness of the place inhabitants

So I just go out there on my own hike and bike.

It's so amazing how much my kids enjoy that country looking from the prism of someone who did not grow up there and is just visiting, the amount of enjoyable things is mind boggling, the coast, mountain, national parks. Three years ago, we did the wildbeast migration, my son still thinks that's the coolest thing he has ever seen even after doing European tour. If Kenya changed its politics and corruption, five yrs and we are a functioning economy.

Of course they were Ndorobos. Gumbas were extinct long time ago. Kikuyus were in lower Kiambu ( I think Ruiru was their frontier) and had just started renting land from Dorobos in upper Kiambu - where most of the white settlers took over.

Ndeiya doesn't look like ideal place for Ndorobo settlement - I think it was a Maasai land - but when British came - they pushed Ndorobos to the dry places - and took over Tigoni and sorrounding areas from Ndorobos.

Ndorobos preffered to live in forest - or near one.
