Yeah. But Besigye had big following too. M7 will be taken out by senility like Bob. Coup will be within NRM. Bobi need to be careful not to end up dead like Tsivangirai.

Hehe Kenya is really lightyears ahead of those guys. UG, TZ, Rwanda, Ethiopia, and shebang are sham democracies or outright dictatorships. DRC is the worst - that President Felix Tshisekedi was distant second but got Kabila backing and quickly sworn in. Lameduck costitutional court approved the brazen rigging. Kabila candidate Shadary was hopeless 3rd and unriggable.

The real winner by far was Martin Fayulu - he headed big NARC-like coalition of Moise Katumbi and Jean-Pierre Bemba. Katumbi and Bemba were like Raila and Ruto - very big fish - both were barred from running on tramped up integrity charges by Kabila. Kabila party rigged most MPs and has 60% of parliament - house and senate. Speakers, PM and half cabinet were appointed by Kabila - including interior, defence and justice ministers.

Now Tshisekedi rules by fiat after fallout with Kabila - PORZ of course has massive power and impunity in buckwater republic - so despite having dismal numbers in parliament he blackmail and bribe MPs with fierce Kabila resistance. Recently he appointed new judges after firing old ones using kangaroo commission that found them unfit to serve. MPs approved under barrel of the gun - the speakers (who are from Kabila party) boycotted the swearing in of the new judges.

Joe Kabila of course killed his dad Laurent-Desire and took over in 2001 at 29. Tshisekedi dad Etienne, Katumbi and Bemba forced him to retire at 45. After Etienne died and Felix inherited the base, Kabila rigged him in and is now getting asante ya punda. Loyal Kabila ministers have been fired from cabinet and his army, cops, judges, bureaucrats, etc purged. It a stand-off: Kabila will either pull a coup or flee. Kalonzo is there selling peace.

Congo need to be split into 3 countries. Yes Kenya is light ahead. At least our democracy has signs of hope.

He quit - supporting Bobi Wine. M7 problem is dealing with uganda youths - who are 75 of population. I think they will either rig or kill Bobi Wine. But if election are held - it will be white-wash for M7- Besigye was mild -  Bob Wine has inspired Uganda youths - they are tired of Museveni. Older uganda remember days of bush wars - younger Uganda only remember Bobi Wine music :)

It is a generation conflict. The mojority of people in Uganda today were not born when M7 took over and brought a bit of order in the mess that was Uganda during the 70's and 80's. So the youth do not appreciate M7's contribution to Uganda. The man cannot warm himself up with the youth. He will have to use drastic measures in order to keep power. I see many people suffering as the M7 clan is not ready to give in. Next year will be bad for Uganda.

Yes, he is planning to remind them of them days of war, by shooting his way. He will not hand over power. He is looking set to lose the election thanks to youth vote. This will be bloody. But I think they will decide to kill Bobi Wine rather than kill many ugandans. Otherwise the army and police could go rogue on him - and force him out - if youth rebellion continues.

Bobi would be walkover if there was any real democracy. I don't see it happening- M7 will get 67% as usual as NRM win supermajority MPs.

Bobi Wine need 2 things: shout very loudly about plans to assassinate him and reduce chance of that happening. Second insist on foreign AU, EU, UN observers. His best outcome is to corner M7 and extort some concessions of power-sharing or M7 2026 retirement. M7 is war-hardened thug that won't be intimidated by world bank or visa bans.

Bobi wine is what doctored order for M7.  He is like Sonko against the Nairobi elite. I have seen such character beat entrenched system - Obama is an example - a black community organizer who took on entrenched white men and conquered.

The tooling the system has had and it's propaganda never prepared for a musician turned politician. They don't know how to respond to him. His candidature appears like a joke except it's serious.

Museveni is totally confused on dealing with him - I think it will lead in assassination or forced asylum - magufuli style. M7 must be getting very serious intelligence about NRM clay feet.

One thing I know when people are tired at you - they will look for worst candidate to remove you with - almost madharau -to get even. That is what Uganda are doing to Museveni. They've picked a ghetto muscian and showered love on him.

There was a time Ssebo said the youths are after him due to his success in educating them and feeding them nutritious foods. Very philosophical take on societal development/transformation.

Ruto is a thug. You don't get where Ruto has without being a ruthless thug.

Can one survive African politics without being a thug?

No you can't. Like all politics is ruthless; but Africa is even more base. There are no morals. You almost have to kill, steal, plunder and rape your country to save it. The irony. That is why some of us are not cut for politics. You need to be almost a pathological liar.

Desperate Museveni going for the kill literally.

Our lives are in great danger! After blocking our  campaign in Kayunga, on our way to the next one in Jinja, the police and military as usual blocked the main road and diverted us to a remote road. This was as if intended to set us into their convenient 'kill spot'.
When they thought no one was watching, the police and military shot the tyres of my car and directly into our windscreen, narrowly missing Hon Zaake and my driver.

I don't understand the violence bit.  I mean, Museveni should be able to rig without physically hurting his opponent.  At least in Kenya, the violence comes after the rigging.

The excuse is COVID-19 measures against public assembly.
