He slice & dice it very well. He has low EQ yes but very good in this trade manenos. He lack the hypocrisy and spin for politics - which is not needed in policy wonk job like UNCTAD director. Politicians have very high EQ but deliver zilch which cause many problems for hapless Wanjiku who can't tell them apart.

Exactly. That is why Meles Zenawi, Museveni, Kagame and WSR are rare breed of intellectual politicians. Although only Ruto is the politician - the rest are military strong men.

That is why Kenya is going to go places one Dr WSR becomes PORK - and I am very serious.

We don't hate Mobutu - we hold him accountable by being objective. Kenya is not in bad place with Mobutu or Raila as next PORK. Both have pros and cons - Mobutu strike one as Mao Tse-tung 5-year marshal plans that were super ambitious but ill-conceived. Anyway he need to become the real boss so we can judge him. Kagame and Meles have actual record of success so it apples and mangoes now.

Ruto has come this far by proving himself at every juncture. Jubilee 1.0 when all is said and done will go down in history as best - with combined 6%. Uhuru this year - will be luckly with 1% -yes COVID-19 is to blame - but that is life.

When Ruto was running gov - gov achieved a lot because Ruto used both IQ and EQ to get stuff done - he made sure parliament was a conveyor belt - that governors and mcas - were all aligned - gov machinery was united. Delivering SGR 5B project on time and cost is not easy. Delivering 10,000 kms of roads. Delivering 5M new electricity connections. Not easy

Unfortunately Uhuru got jealous - and wanted to drive it. Mlevi sasa will end up driving kenya to a ditch. UNLESS and I pray he listen - he resign now and let Ruto drive the car until 2032. Jubilee 2.0 IS A DISASTER. Nothing it has touched has flourished. They failed housing project by failing to get through parlaiment. Even KQ/KAA deal. Now KPLC is in the red. Economy bleeding. Gov unable to pay debt. Meanwhile BBI - that is so unpopualr.

Why is Ruto now popular. People know he can deliver. He works hard. He works smart. He fixes thing. He it makes it look easy

NARC 2 years before Bomas fallout Raila drove the infra expansions- bypasses - easy peasy. For pocket change. NARA was top performer with Raila running infra ministries. Jubilee 2 has sounder development of lite-rails and old rails recarpeting unlike SGR to nowhere. Thanks to Raila your new co-president. Obviously you can get temporary GDP to skyrocket before the chickens come home to roost. That what Jubilee 1 did - debt infra binge. Your new hero Ndii has little negative to say now compared to the disparaging anti-mortgage op eds in Jubilee 1. It not the bile that has stopped or patriotism but there are few national economic blunders now.

Mobutu vs Raila IQ-EQ .. totally subjective you see. Those two can do just fine but my cash is on Raila. Trojan 2 is brutal - you confuse it with Uhuru jujitsu :) nope it Raila.

Jubilee 1.0 was busy laying the mines that are currently sabotaging KE economy Zambia style. Look at these graphs. We borrowed recklessly, GDP is a useless metric, you can have positive GDP growth while people are starving, jobs are being shed, and economy is in the doldrums. Building useless infrastructure to nowhere can bump up the GDP, which is misleading as it only captures volume, not value. We were busy taking on Chinese goods and services on credit which immediately started eating away at our income. China on the other hand, manufactures its capital goods, hence its infrastructure and other capital investments stimulate and create jobs domestically. This point escapes Pundit who thinks ALL infrastructure projects are created equal.

SGR is long term investment. Ndii want gov to just engage in short investment like it will report profit and loss. SGR that you deride will last 200yrs. The British one that was derided created Nairobi (out of Railway station) and nearly all Kenya cities bar Mombasa - and entire economy is line along that old British line. That is what infrastructure do to a country in 50-100yrs.

Jubilee yes grew debt - but we also got infrastructure that will outlast the present generation.

And Jubilee to it's credit has never sold any public asset.

Kibaki kept borrowing to the minimum by SELLING PUBLIC Asset. There are 3 ways to finance budget - raise taxes - sell public assets - or borrow.

Kibaki sold 30% of Safaricom. If Jubilee was to sell 30% of Safaricom that is 4b dollars - and that is enough to finance SGR.

Kimunya was just busy selling public sector companies - 30% of KENGEN, 30% of KenRe, 30% of Mumias, 30% of Safaricom, Telkom Kenya, name it.

The stock market grew, everyone was happy, but remember we were selling assets built by last generation, to mostly finance recurrent budget.

This I believe is very stupid. We need to sell such assets and invest in long term infrastructure like railways. Did Kibaki build Safaricom - nope - Moi did - but he sold it and finance his gov budget with it.

More like long term impoverishment and bankruptcy, Zambia style. SGR won't last 200 years stop being silly, the thing is already falling apart, shoddy Chinese built junk. Reminder that Railways are 19th century technology, who knows what transportation tech we will be using in the next 50 years? We will move beyond the current extractive model of our economy to a truly sustainable in which case vast freight movement potential which SGR represents will not be required. We will also realize the folly of importing everything from toothpicks to jet engines from abroad. If one good thing came from Trump - he debunked the idea of trade deals, tariff less trading and open movement of goods and capital as being beneficial. We need to produce locally, sell locally or at most within the the EA region. Growing bulbs for Dutch flower houses, avocadoes for China, Macadamia for Ulaya is a hugely misguided. We are still stuck in the colonial cash crop paradigm. Real wealth and true prosperity is only possible by being self sufficient. I need to expand on this in a separate thread.
