As clumsy and incompetent as these folks are, they are waging a literal war on democracy.  I don't think this is the last we will see of them.  When Trump is gone, Republicans will find another analogue, with a functioning brain to boot.

A possibility.  He could also just be as desperate as he seems.  He needs the office to shield himself from legal jeopardy.  In which case, this drama drags on till Inauguration Day.

Rudy raised a lot of legal matters in that presser worth considering. He may be dismissed now for sweating but that's not illegal in the US of A.
