There will be no referendum. The timelines are impossible. BBI itself is unpopular.

I know this is lazy, but what is the big item in BBI?  Is it just the usual constitutional change after an election that Kenya seems condemned to?

you are right very lazy indeed. BBI is Raila Manifesto 2022 - lots of cosmetic changes and carrots for women (1/3 rule), youths (MSME tax, HELB waivers), counties (35% devolution), MCAs (ward development fund). Basically steals the thunder from hustler. Oh, and there is a hybrid executive with non-executive PM and 2 DPMs - which makes Kalonzo and retiring governors very happy. MPs will be CS.

Bottomline it's a Raila blank cheque-book that gives hustler sleepless nights. Pure politics.

Running for PORK on the back of unpopular document. BBI utility ends with promising someone PM and all the fake jobs if they support you. Unfortunately for Raila - he is now gone full circle promising the same thing for 3 elections.

Add BBI to attempting to run on Uhuru's empty legacy.

Smart money is hustler nation - that is very popular - and opposing the gov while being inside.

If people don't want BBI now - what make you think - they will want to hear about in 2rys after corona is done with us :)

Wewe ni chizi kweli. You almost sound like you totally suspend thinking.

What reason? Ruto is just careful with how he throw punches because Uhuru is out there and Ruto is still DPORK. Otherwise when decisive moment arrives - Ruto will always make a decision and stick with it.

Uhuru obviously playing the game. Now he is going to ask Raila to listen to Ruto, church and all the complains - and go for BBI 3.0 :) :) :) :) :)

Uhuru remember always - his MAIN(and maybe only) objective - is to run (kenya parlance for loot) his 5yr mandate - unperturbed by anyone. He is managing Raila like the BOSS :) and eating Ruto cheese :) while at it. Managing both...like the boss.

It's clear jujitsu moves from the drunkard. He has attained an unprecedented level of power in recent times without sharing power :)

I was waiting to see how you spin Ruto's capitulation to BBI.  BBI is now home free after you screamed here that it is a non-starter.  The changes will be made to the constitution to facilitate a very broad coalition which will win with north of 60%  popular vote.  This is important because the next governments needs a strong mandate to govern the country properly.

Here comes the delusional chief with his delusion. No - BBI won't happen. This is just time wasting - to keep Raila and his naive supporters - like you - looking at the spinning wheels thinking something is being done to make their long suffering presidential candidate a winner.

It's so funny if it's was so tragic.

Why would Uhuru want to go down as guy who messed up a great constitution :) - and waste 15B for IEBC - and another 30B for politicians to go round selling the document.

Uhuru has NIS on the ground - rejection is near unanimous - 80%. How then do you handle Raila - simple - play time - buy time - keep him hopeful.

Soon we go for BBI 3.0 to fix BBI 2.0 that fixed BBI 1.0. The longest study of what ails kenya :) - when EVERYONE knows - and there are gazillion of reports there. You people NEVER really think - never. You meet over the handshake instead of discussing money and power - development - you bring 9 point academic thesis of Kenya problems - and now the Professor of Politics keep sending you to make corrections :: ( :). This year you had another chance when Ruto people were being hounded..to get some power...but too busy in ACADEMIC thesis of what ails kenya.

All we heard was reshuffle reshuffle looming reshuffle - then kaboom - more BBI tunes - reggae reggae:). Politics such cuthroat - you get opportunity -a small window - you take it. My man Ruto is an expert on those.

Anyway let us have new team with new term of reference to agree to Ruto, Church and other kenyan concerns. Nearly everyone has issues with BBI - some kind of record :) - most retrogressive document ever.

Which is basically simple - IMPLEMENT current constitution. When you remove all the 9 issues what remain of BBI 9 point agenda is nothing.

And then 45% NASA support you auctioned to Uhuru for BBI will amount to NOTHING. I think one Film Chairlady from NASA was appointed to Uhuru gov :) :)

Kondoo sana - BBI/handshake from get go - should have been about power sharing NOW - not in the future - Uhuru would have given Raila at least something to cry with.

You never get it....!!!

You persist in denigrating Robina yet her take/analysis is right on the money. Take a little more time to listen to yourself and maybe a little more counsel that comes with age from older folk around you... age is sage, they will tell you that you are deluded! Armchair analysis that you practice needs to be toned with nuanced conclusions.

BBI will be implemented and you better accept that it is your boy who is being shafted and led to the guillitone. The process now is just the fattening before the chopping board.

The train has left the station and no one will stop it. All the branding is done and all systems ready to go. There was no indefinite postponement and Uhuru is not about to do any of that. Take this from a very solid source. When you had your time to make submissions, all you did was to abuse people and call others (including me, conman... that is what Uhuru told Ruto yesterday). Now there is no turning back. Uhuru was just being courteous to meet him after some plea by Church leaders (main stream church leaders), not the transactional "church" leaders that Ruto lines up with.

Worst case scenario outcome for BBI in a referendum is 60% win... and your propaganda that it will cost Shs.14B and another Shs.40B for i don't know what else, Oooh lets us use this money on Covid related interventions etc.. is going to be debunked and demystified as part of the activities lined up to popularise the BBI recommendations.

You guys are really a rare breed; it is really astounding how you can not see the obvious and am surprised in how much beating you can endure before realizing it is game over. Your man-Ruto has capitulated, he knows he has no wherewithal to go head to head with the two main political forces in Kenya. Hustler nation will never see the light of day.... non of Ruto's potential funders would fathom such a narrative, they will peel off and he will have nothing left to run his 2022 campaign. He is already starting to feel his pocket and holding onto whatever he has in the tank.

Sleep easy Pundito.... it is only politics. Put your "we got numbers" and "BBI is unpopular" to the test and let us see where you land!

Omwami, we will wait and see. 15B is IEBC cost - comes to around 500 shs per voter. Now that is just IEBC. Now all that Tshirt printing, sound system, agents, campaigns - does Raila have the money for that - or Uhuru is expected to finance it. This is national election or referenda - it's going to cost a lot of money.

And for what? Why would Uhuru waste all that money for a constitutional imperative that doesn't exist.

BBI arrived dead DOA.

And I am not a kid on politics. I studied Kenya politics since I was 10 - about 30yrs ago.

There is almost absolutely nothing you or Robina can teach me about kenya politics.

Uhuru I told Robina from get go was taking the usual fool to the cleaners.

Uhuru has done it twice. He did it with KANU with Ruto in 2002. And now. Kibaki also got hic chance.

Raila my father use to say is like a monkey on your back - please try to get him off - and it's not easy.

Poor supporters of a fool. For that long. You have to be more foolish than him. To be played so regularly like that?????

You never get it....!!!

We will see in very short order indeed.... and just as a reminder IEBC is a den of thieves; you don't need Shs.14b to run a simple Yes/No referendum. They have already been called out for their deception.

Sometimes not knowing who you are engaging with gives you a very elevated and false sense of wisdom and importance. Will let you continue to wallow in that false sense of knowledge and expertise in (Kenyan) politics.

Raila was in charge of IEBC procurement in 2010 and 2013 - and both cost more than 10B plus. Last census cost 20B. There are 50,000 polling stations. IEBC has hire 5 staff or plus for each - one checks IDs - next check the system - next stamp ballot - next issue ballot paper - next make sure you've inserted it- and then a supervior or two. Maybe 2 police officer per station - to be paid allowance by IEBC for extra duties. Just say 10 people per polling station - 0.5M staff - pay each 10K - that is already 5B. Then a vehicle to ferry the ballot. Then systems. All over the country. Some areas have to use choppers and all that. Logistic nightmares of reaching a polling station in Turkana.

We all do this to make Raila accept defeat - he never does.
