At this point Trump should just concede. But don't bet on it - might be another week or longer of court drama. 2000 redux on big scale. How do we lecture TZ after this :)

Trump cannot concede.  His personality disorder does not leave room for that.  If anything, I expect him to become more unhinged and dangerous in the coming days.

This is headed to SCOTUS. No matter what happens we are irredeemably tainted. Xi and Putin are having a ball.

What's this story circulating the interwebz about fraud in the Midwest? Are they making it up, ama what? https://thefederalist.com/2020/11/04/yes-democrats-are-trying-to-steal-the-election-in-michigan-wisconsin-and-pennsylvania/

Fox and the Daily Wire haven't reported it, so I'm inclined to think the facts claimed about pure Biden voter dumps are fake but it's rapidly flying through conservative circles and might be the reason for the MAGA groups storming some counting booth in Phoenix. (Or is it Detroit??? Or both? Not sure where the protests are).

It's beginning to look more like Kenya than US elections. God help us.

I, too, am shocked at the "familiar" ring to these developments, as a Kenyan. I wonder if this level of contestation will be the US norm going forward or if it'll ease up after Trump? At least in Kenya our bazillion ethnicities, young "democracy," and ever-shifting/super dynamic political alignments more or less keep us from totally splitting, though we came close in 2017. The US effectively has these two coalesced "nations" co-existing in one republic that seem increasingly antagonistic in their relations. Do you think it holds in the coming decades? Or is this just a Trump-era phenomenon?

Trumpism is just a culmination and symptom of the problem.  It's a decades old problem, dating back to the 60s Southern Strategy by the GOP after the Civil Rights act.  Some argue it dates back to the American civil war.  After the civil war, the defeated side was not crushed and vanquished.  They were instead reinstated into polite society for the sake of peace and continued to wage that war by other means.

Yes it's been long coming. The media is basically managing the Trump mobs now, this was long over. Deplorables have gone crazy.

Is it racism or classism? It appears almost like rural (small towns) versus urban (Cities) split. And those votes are kenyan like 80% for trump in rural America; and 20% for Biden; and in the cities the reverse is true.

The map has never really changed - coastal populous cities on edge of the country - both east and west coast - support democrats - always blue

The middle large swathe of America solidly republican - always red.

But as long as there is good balance - it's no biggie. 4yrs for rural America. 4 yrs for urban America. Republican and Democrat make for good PING PONG. We need the same in kenya - 5yrs for Kalenjin; 5yr for kikuyu :) or we can spice it up - GEMA versus Non-GEMA ping-pong

It's not really racism like you have in Kenya - because in kenya - whether in Kisumu or Malindi or Pokot - a Luo or Kikiyu or kalenjin will vote certain way.

There are millions of whites - in cities - who don't subscribe to this racism. It more a rural America thing.

Urban America is all nice and cosmopolitan. Rural America remain white and mostly backward. And thanks to gun ownership - it's pretty closed scary place for non-whites generally.

In a very broad sense, there is an urban/rural divide.  But there aren't enough people in the rural areas to match the cities.  That mass of red you see in red/blue electoral college maps is mostly just empty land.  The farms are huge.  The reality is more like a blue urban core, a purple suburban area, and red as you radiate further out.

Outside of a handful of states like New Jersey and Massachusetts, most states are purple.  Blue around urban areas and reddening as you move further out.  So even in a red state like Arkansas, you will have deep blue around Little Rock, and red as you radiate out.  Generally the more diverse an area is, the bluer it is.

As an example, to win statewide in Illinois, you just need to win Cook County(almost half the state population) and then remain competitive(even if losing) everywhere else.  The suburbs around Cook County also lean blue.  The rest of the state is deep red with blue holdouts in Champagne, Springfield, East St. Louis etc.  It's a pattern across many states with big cities.

As for racism, it's part of America's culture.  In my experience, you can find it anywhere.  Of course in bigger cities, there is less social license for the blatant variety - so people are conditioned to abhor it.  It doesn't mean it's not there.  But at least it's not tolerated.

Granted, one party has made peace with it(arguably made it a cornerstone), and the other has made a point to fight it.  Demographic change is at the heart of the current turmoil in American politics.

In another era, different GOP President I would have dismissed this crackpot's idea as a stretch.  I don't doubt Trump(and the current GOP) will be seriously considering going this route if(when) Trump formally loses.  There will be chaos all the way to inauguration.

I almost choked with laughter the other day when I saw message by Mike Pompeo directed at Tz about elections.  I think Magufuli just ignored it.

Yes of course - it start from deep blue and radiate to deep red the further rural. The more rural the more white homogenous, the less educated, the more conservative, the more religious, guns and the poorer. The same is true for inner cities - it black, latino, less educated, violent, drugs, crime, name it.

It appears the real America dream is in the middle - in the suburbs of middle class America. Inner cities are angry blacks and latinos. The rural areas are angry whites. In the suburbia lives the progressive American with a white picket fence.

And that middle is probably holding peace because inner city thugs cannot square with rural gun totting thugs.

Robina,

Proposition 22 passed with overwhelming majority exempting gig workers being classified as employees. Is this a clear indication of unions and democrats overreach in California? If uber and lyft drivers were some obscure workers it could have passed.

I aways agreed with Uber - taxi drivers OWN the cabs and are in fact Uber partners. Cabs were there long before Uber - they can actually quit any day WITHOUT NOTICE - what "employees" do that in any other industry? They can even form their own app company.. but cannot voluntarily join optional app and claim to be employees. AirBnB obviously doesn't employ condo owners.

Robina may work for multiple companies too - split my hours - as gigger or contractor NOT employee. To become proper employee I must commit and moonlight quietly under the radar.

Unions have LOST on this one. Mainly because Uber consumers- riders- are the majority and love low rates and professional service. Accepting statewide referendum is a very bad strategy for unions. They will lose everywhere.

Trump alleges brazen rigging.. apparently stuffed ballots are being sneaked in by Dems in PA and GA.. they were waiting for legal votes to be counted then smuggle in as many as it takes to scuttle his lead. Watch at the tail end the Sky News man says it sounds like a presser on Zimbabwe or Belarus :(

bitmask - we may need to open the servers here :)

Proposition 16 also failed in California. The race based preference proposal was soundly rejected. Goes to show even in Blue california citizens are against race preference mandates. Racial identity politics practiced by democrats doesn't resonates with most of America including California. That's surprising.
