I doubt he will be allowed to appeal while outside - so jail time of six months is home direct.

He did not make it to Capital Hill on time for santisation?
He will get a few years term at the least. 270M is a lot of money even in Kenyan standards.

Something Erdas. I am glad they were jailed. I think late Jacob Juma was part of the scam. And so was Eugene Wamalwa. Yongo Brian is part of these kind of deals with likes of Ahmed Nassir.

Basically get a fake contract, sue the kenya gov parastal for non-fulfillment, go to arbitration or court, and get awarded millions;

This scam that Yongo Brian and Jacob Juma use to pull with selected lawyers and judges.

The delaying tactics by lawyers will get their big shot clients hanged in an environment they never could forsee. This case has dragged since 2009. Jacob Juma at one time went to parliament threatening to auction NCPB assets.

That is how they work; put public pressure on parastatals; to agree to arbitration by their lawyer friends; they didn't supply any maize but blames NCPB for not making available stores ;)

This is how Grand Mullah became a billionaire in 10yrs. He does the intimidation of  Judges after Jacob juma and brian yongo gathers intelligence or is the arbitrator.

What kills many of them - they get millions - and it mess up their mind. They don't know how to sit still with millions in their bank account. They go all over town.Likes of Ruto will go to church and act humble.

So get helicopter rides to their girlfriends home; they cause so much chaos in nairobi; everyone know they have millions in their bank account

You forget to mention the weak defence the state lawyers put up. Sometimes even they do not appear for court hearings. Ever heard of Kenya winning any international case when being represented by the AG?

Legal issues aside. By election will be a golden opportunity to see how much punch Jubilee Nandi Asili is packing. Hint hint Mariga might win this one.

Anglo leasing scam cash outs emboldened Kibadinga and JUbilee era legalistic thugs! Must have motivated the SGR heist by the dons.

Quote
A businessman Tuesday told a House committee investigating the National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) scandal in Nairobi that he had secured a court order to dispose of the board’s assets over a Sh267 million debt.

The order puts at risk Kenya’s food security as NCPB is a strategic food reserve that holds 2.2 million bags of maize valued at Sh6.6 billion.

“We are now set to enforce a court decree to dispose of NCPB’s assets arising from the breach of a maize supply contract,” Jacob Juma, a director of Erad Supplies and General Contractors Ltd, told the Public Investments Committee (PIC).

The committee is investigating how Erad obtained court orders to sell NCPB’s assets to recover a total of Sh564 million yet it did not supply a single grain of maize.

Mr Juma said that he had so far attached NCPB’s assets worth Sh297 million, sold two vehicles and was holding five others.

The court order is meant to recover the Sh267 million balance of Erad’s Sh564 million claim.

NCPB entered into a maize supply contract with five companies to import 180,000 tonnes of maize to meet the country’s food needs during the 2004 famine.

Erad, one of the firms, however failed to deliver the maize, which it claimed it would have been imported from Ethiopia, leading to termination of the contract.

The firm moved to an arbitrator and was awarded Sh564 million for breach of the contract, but NCPB contested the decision at the High Court.

Mr Juma said the matter had been heard by nine judges who threw out NCPB’s case and upheld its claim for storage charges and loss of revenue anticipated from the maize supply.

Sentencing should only take 5 minutes. Why all this theater and the verdict is already known?

The justice system treats the rich and privileged totally different to how it treats common mwananchi! Thus, the boring repeated recitations to assuage the egos of the big time criminals!

Very good ruling. The guy should just go to Jail. 600M utaoa wapi?

Sirisia MP fined over Kshs 594M or serve 7 years in jail. I like the ruling, how I wish all those with corruption cases are convicted and sentenced in a similar manner.

A precedent: John Waluke & Grace Wakhungu have each been fined Kshs. 727m and 707m! Hope High Court and CA will not use the figure as bargaining chip.

Assets Recovery hawks need to land ASAP!

Yes, serving a sentence is not enough, their asset recovery should sell everything they own. This will a good lesson that graft doesn't pay
