Interesting Youtube Channels
« on: March 07, 2020, 02:02:43 AM »
I found this one about Museveni to be interesting https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC7iv_BEJe2icQUFcHs8xoeQ.  Looks like the guy started uploading 8 months ago.  There is even a video or two about the 1987 Kenya-Uganda clashes, with Museveni, then still wearing cheap hand washed suits, addressing the press.

If you have any interesting ones, feel free to share.

M7 is so young here. I still think he is the best man for the job in UG.

Chronohistory.

This is the video that caught my attention to this channel.  Best playback speed is at 0.75.

The Germans, just emerging from slaughtering millions in cold blood, look just like regular folks.  Neat little stores on tidy streets were still functioning.

These were a very enlightened group of people, living in an advanced society.  Not a different species or primitive.  And still, they were able to normalize the slaughter of groups deemed "unfit".

The Germans, just emerging from slaughtering millions in cold blood, look just like regular folks.  Neat little stores on tidy streets were still functioning.

That was the calm before the storm. Retribution was coming for them. Germans gave no quarter and the victors were in no mood to be forgiving. Little is known by folks of the reverse genocide perpetrated on the Germans in Eastern Europe, millions were uprooted from all over and dumped on Germany, they couldn't complain because they were pariahs. I have seen ugly videos of the violence, rape and humiliation inflicted on German civilians after the war. Jews formed gangs that would snap the necks of suspected Nazis. The sad thing for Germans is they can't talk about their post war trauma because it is taboo.

I wish people stopped parroting this nonsense of Germans being civilized. Civilized and Primitive are well worn colonial Eurocentric tropes, still Germans were known in Europe for the longest as a savage & boorish people.

This was in the western part of Germany.  The allies were a little kinder to the Germans after the war.  Yes they hanged the leaders they caught.  But the kurutu was basically a free man following some formalities.  Maybe you want to share evidence to contradict the smiling faces in that part of the world and history.

But they were by the ordinary meaning of the word.  Their savagery stage was way back during the Roman empire and maybe medieval times.  By comparison, many parts of Africa were still tribal until colonization, and even then it's still a struggle to get some countries to a nation-state level.

Being advanced or backward, doesn't say anything about innate abilities.  Do you doubt that the ancient Songhai empire was more advanced than today's Pygmies?

True, Western Germans got off lightly, those who suffered were in the East. Let us not forget the carpet bombings of German cities by the allies, they tasted hell too. I don't think those videos tell the whole story. WWII broke Germany's spirit.

But they were by the ordinary meaning of the word.  Their savagery stage was way back during the Roman empire and maybe medieval times.  By comparison, ts of Africa were still tribal until colonization, and even then it's still a struggle to get some countries to a nation-state level.  ing advanced or backward, doesn't say anything about innate abilities.  Do you doubt that the ancient Songhai empire was more advanced than today's Pygmies?

That is the story mzungu tells himself, its the their conceit, "we are enlightened, we are civilized, and its our burden to civilize you". Those pernicious ideas can unconsciously slip into your African mind, beware. They are savages who have better technology and organization. Look at the quick rise of the fascist far right and its ideas in supposedly modern Germany. They have not undergone metamorphosis to become better humans. German savagery was not limited to the Roman period, Poles will dispute that, they have suffered at the hands of Germans till 1945, the Baltic states were terrorized for a thousand years by the Germans, the Namibians will contest your assertions about German enlightenment.

Are some societies more adept at self organization than others? Yes, does it mean they are better or have more value ? No

Yes, during the war Germany got its just desserts.  The Russians were harsh even afterwards for obvious reasons.  The German campaign in the USSR amounted to one colossal war crime.  The Soviets won but only after paying the bloodiest cost in the entire war.  It dramatically altered the gender balance in the country.

On the  civilization question, I really mean social organization and technology.  It’s not a controversial idea IMO.  I have even mentioned it does not necessarily reflect on innate abilities.  We are in agreement, but you are quibbling about terminology.  Let’s worry less about pride and more about how can better participate in this world on our own terms.

Glad we got that cleared up. I was not quibbling about terminology I rightly pointed out I had issue with civilized and enlightened. I agreed their were more socially and technically advanced. It is all cool though.

I agree with you on participating on the world stage on our own terms.

Thanks.  This looks like good quarantine material.  It's amazing how the 2nd Ammendment has been twisted to mean every nut who wants a gun gets to own one.

Adeynika Makinde's channel  often features historical clips(some of them pretty interesting).

Kenyan independence celebrations 1973.  Idi Amin was there.  Jaafar Nimeiry was there.  Haile Selassie too.

How is none of this stuff archived by an organization like KBC?
