Not gona happen with the WH, senate and SCOTUS under the conservatives. Texas recently passed pro-gun law to allow statewide conceal & carry. Best we can hope for is the Dems take over next year and mandate serious background checks for any gun holder or applicant - including psyche evaluation. There's an outbreak of radical white terrorism.

Yup.  Against the background of general gun violence, this is what has been on the rise.

Rethugs resist curbing the 2nd amendment to keep it a campaign issue. I don't think they genuinely fear its abuse by liberals. The redneck base views guns as a life and death affair. These nuts killing folks were latently always there but the alt-right had no media to infect them. Any GP will tell you  the most obvious side effect of drug abuse is delusion and paranoia. Remove opioids and guns and white terrorism dies.

Yes, there are mental issues.  But I think the racist redneck has always been a mainstay of the Republican(and when they were Democratic) party.  It has been said he would cut his nose off, if it somehow resulted in injury to blacks as well. 

The GOP had managed to keep them more or less content, with sporadic red meat, even as the country headed in a right direction.  Obama was the straw that broke the camel's back.  Trump was able to tap into that cesspool of hate.  In return, they were now free to say the quiet parts out loud.

I sympathise with mental cases.  But I believe evil people are very real.

What's the solution? Is there a cure for racism? The electric chair clearly doesn't matter.
