Delay tactics. Kenya government is broke. Paid Kale cartels the cash for the maize and now the coffers are empty. Even after DP Ruto blew his trumpet on this issue and now the farmers realise it was just a gimmick.

The CS said on Wednesday that the government has established a committee to audit farmers who are owed before any payment is made.

The problem is Ruto talks before thinking. Remember he promised to get rid of all refugees in Kenya in 3 months? That was years ago. Now he has moved on and forgot about Adan Duale's relatives.

Why is gov paying sugar farmers? Which gov stores do they supply their sugar cane? I can understand gov bailing sugar companies - but paying sugar farmers? Maize is different matter because farmers actually supply maize to NCPB - who then pays them - via Treasury.

The sooner we privatize sugar - the better for all parties involved - farmers, gov and consumers.

Agriculture needs to be fully liberalized. This is the biggest chokehold on kenya economy. Anywhere government gets involved that sector undoubtedly always fails. Horticulture is thriving cause its fully liberalized with almost zero government involvement.

It will not be liberalised as it is a cashcow for the ruling elite. The recently lost billions just dissappeared and apart form parliamentary committees nobody seems to be keen on finding the lost cash. No word from the famed duo Haji and Kinoti. Do not even mentioned the castrated EACC.

These Omnicare/Kiscol should have led the Gulana Kulalu implementation if it was not meant to be a plunder cash cow.

They are doing quite well with around 40 billion- a small amount compared to what has been eaten at the dying horse Kulalu or in the dead sugar companies in Western. Vested interests wont allow such investors to lease the land and do proper agribusiness and agri processing which is a low hanging fruit.
