This guy is going to be the future of Ethiopia. He bid his time. He was a sleeper and at the he opportune time made a deal with Oromos patriotic front. His Parliament majority is unchallengeable. He had reshuffled cabinet, retired all army generals loyal to the old regime. CIA is giving him cover. His coup by starting talks with eriteria has killed rebels supply lines.

Masterstroke a genius. He is going to be a power to recknon in Africa

Yes if he can avoid being assassinated by the tigrays who must be raving mad - then he is  the game. He need to court the Amharas - and he'll be home dry. He has the Oromos now but if Amhara & tigrays align - he'll be toast. What a breathe of fresh air. Kenya need to take advantage and really work on close integration with Ethiopia - open up the borders for trading - and make some deals on trades - and really invest in ethiopia if they open up their private sector (banking+telcoms+ hotel industry)

Yeap they looted big and worse they've taken land in Adis Ababa by force - they were gonna get killed for sure and send up north - and now with Eritrea in peace - they are damned. They should be happy if this Abbiy guy ignore the past and work on the future. They are already way priveleged.

Liberalization of ethiopia economy is what will lead to real broad based economic growth. Not the infrastructure binge of the last 10yrs  https://www.reuters.com/article/us-safaricom-ethiopia-exclusive/exclusive-kenyas-safaricom-in-advanced-talks-to-take-m-pesa-to-ethiopia-idUSKBN1K715H

Yesh, mengistu socialism really messed the place. The current regime is still using economy as a tool to control dissedents..there is no land rights and that why Oromos are fighting back.
