Ruto should not oppose any attempt by Uhuru and Raila to change the constitution. He should only add a rider. That whoever has served as president before is not eligible for position of Prime Minister or PORK otherwise why have term limits. Governors have term limits. Uhuru & his groupies are trying to beat that  & regress kenya to Uganda or Rwanda level.Tanzania are on their 5th president.Uhuru want to die in power like his father Jomo.

2017 wasted on elections now we waste 2018 and 2019 on useless referendum?  What a way to run a country?

Ruto can use that to send Uhuru home. If he links up with Raila it would be exactly as it was in Naivasha PSC. Ruto would get a chance to redeem himself by going for the Westminster System. With the PORK empty, Ruto and Raila can form a proper Coalition government.

One other thing: Proportional Representation. Since GEMA will be experiencing a demographic crisis, we can see more parliamentary seats in RV, Western and NEP. Plus making Kenya or the old provinces constituencies, would reduce the chances of buying individual MPs and strengthen political parties.

But I think MKM will now not hear of referenda. That would alienate Raila whom they need to delay the Ruto onslaught.

I think with that Raila or Ruto can take PORK or PM. Uhuru and GEMA have had more than their fair share. GEMA are underestimating the hatred kenyans have for them. If Uhuru approves the referendum...all Ruto need is to similar add small rider...ammendment to say whoever has previously occupied the position of PORK is not eligible for any newly created position like 2010 constitution says. Otherwise if we allow Uhuru to continue...the next PORK just need to change the title of president and make nonsense of term of office.

Cheap trick is DOA. Can we have the same caveate for DPORK and PM? Uhuru can run for any non-PORK job including PM and MCA. Usually it's past holders of the same office that are barred. Just create PM and outplay him. GEMA does not have the most MPs unlike the present tyranny. Harder to rig MPs which will cause more trust in the elections.

Ruto needs to swallow harder and think clearly. He's smarter than your kneejerks here. GEMA's strength is not simply their cohesion but the Non-GEMA segmentation which saw Kibaki then Uhuru sneak in. With present Almighty PORK,  don't be surprised to see both Ruto and Raila line up Kikuyu-Luhya tickets ala 2002.

He does not need to. The President in such systems is elected by college. MPs for example

The universal hatred of GEMA is simply a convenient line Pundit. 2002 and 2013 tell us deals will be cut on present interests alone,  not any hatred or vendetta. After vicious PEV, alas Uhuruto was born! Cohesive GEMA will play a stronger hand than any other group.

If PM will be executive; then Uhuru cannot stand; that is basically the principle behind term limits. Otherwise someone would use gov power to stay in power forever. So what you're asking us is to fight Uhuru while our hands are tied behind our back.

Gema are possibly in their worst position ever..they don't have any heir apparent...hence all the panic to keep Uhuru going

I meant Uhuru & GEMA will not allow such a clause. Referendum needs Top 3 support to sail through.

There are no terms limits in parliamentary system. Germany,  UK, Israel - universal. Unless Kenya would be the exception. You can't have a system based on your anger against Uhuru - that's narrow minded. View the system on its own merit then simply outplay Uhuru.

PK or anyone can rise as soon as Uhuru dies. Same as Luo after Raila or Kalenjin after Moi. I think Uhuru's greed is a golden opportunity for Non-GEMA. Please think beyond Ruto,  he's not Koitalel. :D

You suggested that Ruto should fold his camp in great fear of the great Uhuru. That is what I chastize. The cowardice.Ruto has fought greater battles than this Uhuru nonsense. He fought against Kibaki as young opposition MP. He assisted Raila and first thing Raila did was to try finish Ruto. Ruto had to fight and he beat Raila. He helped the drunkard Uhuru and first thing he does after Ruto has helped him is to do what Raila did. Ruto Knows what he need to do. Ruto helped Moi and Moi all along thought he was not pedigree like his sons. He helped Raila and the same thing. Uhuru and same thing.  All of them are terrified because Ruto is not cowed by them and Ruto is genuine political talent unlike them. They've looted; their parents have looted; but Ruto whenever he got a chance has tried to out-loot them - not to accumulate insane money like Gideon or Uhuru - but to amass a weapone he can use to fight them. He is not madvd or kalonzo they can wave...Ruto is willing to go toe to toe to the ungrateful sobs.

Ruto just has to copy Sonko..go nuclear and go now. He owes Uhuru nothing. Uhuru has to repay his debt or Ruto has to take his pound of flesh.

Of course Uhuru or gema will not allow it. But will Luo & Raila want it. Yes. So basically both issues will have to go the popular route. There will be a referendum. The question 1 - will be Raila & Uhuru question - you vote YEs or No. Question 2 - will be Ruto caveat to block Uhuru - you vote Yes or No.  Kenya will vote for both :) except Uhuru on second.

The whole constitution change is targeted at Ruto - the heir apparent. GEMA are not comfortable with Ruto as PORK. Which is why Raila has his audience.

Nothing happens in kenya without a target - not ICC or Waki commission or constitution. If Ruto feels the lifestyle audit is targetted at him like Waki comission local tribunal was - then he has to ran to hills - and possibly take chance with "ICC" like he did in 2009. It was obvious then that Raila and Kibaki both wanted Ruto head...and that local tribunal was designed specifically for that..Raila get to pick 3 hangmen--Kibaki 3 hangmen.

Perhaps now after you stopped pretending that some drunk is raining blows on you, he too can act. For weeks you have pretended that all was well when we all knew the truth.

You acted like an abused woman who is beaten all night and raped and all can hear it from her screams. Then she comes out blames the swollen eye on a fall as she praises the husband., Let Ruto now act.

Uhuru and GEMA have no choice. Ruto can simply join Raila and they would have enough to push for a referendum to approve any constitutional changes. There are enough numbers.

Lol uhuru is going for heart and soul..I am not sure but his family may be surrendering soem of the lands grabbed by Kenyatta..uhuru and raila are after legacy..they have now come to realize that political dynasties must at one point step out of the way and let the nation advance..the handshake was about what raila and uhuru kids and grandkids want..the two are going to rule for five years .they will deliver 500,000 housing units across the country and drastically reduce corruption..in 2022 they will bring someone neutral to take over ..

There won't be referendum now. There will be a referendum in 2025
