How did this become acceptable
« on: September 26, 2014, 01:39:53 PM »
Someone spent his time making a 'school desk'

Somebody actually paid for that 'school desk'

Assuming they are posing for the pic, the school desk accomodates four? pupils

Where do you place your bag? your books?

Can you all write at the same time (elbow room)?

And finally is the top wide enough to take a laptop  :D :D :D

ps. is that the teachers' handbag?

On a more serious note, those of you into CBO's etc. the French embassy is doling out cash to build a proper class etc.

This desk is state of the art compared to what I have seen around the country. These kids are lucky to be in a classroom and have a roof over their heads. It therefore beats logic that Uhuru is busy trying to get them poor quality laptops and still the cash is subjected to kickbacks and fraud.

That's my point exactly! Unfortunately we have normalised it.

How is it that 50 years on, this is the best public service education we can offer.

The truth is that most of these kids will fail their exams and should the odd one make it to Uni, it will be despite and not as a result of the facilities. It's a shame that we cant have simple standards, and enforce them eg. if you are going to build a classroom, it must meet these specs.

That school is likely very proud to call itself an Academy!!
