He Murdered Wife
« on: March 05, 2018, 05:18:20 PM »
because of infidelity.  He took the Raphael Tuju playbook and flipped it.  He killed the wife and merely threatened her lover.  Are these different reactions rooted in cultural differences between Kikuyus and Luos?

Also, from the little I know, this could be used in his defense in Kenyan law.

Tuju took out the man.  The intruder.  The MCA took out his wife and threatened the intruder.  The MCA also had the wife raped and tortured, forced to ingest acid, before she was murdered.

There is definitely a difference in the execution.  One does it without gratuitous cruelty.  I was hoping to learn if there might be cultural underpinnings to these responses.

These days so many people are operating outside the cultural boundaries that you cannot explain their behavior culturally.  There are just too many variables, especially mental health issues that transcend culture.

Yep.  More data would give a more realistic picture.  What is not in doubt is there seems to be quite a bit of these types of killings.  And the connected suspects NEVER pay for it.

Windy (I am not typing this new name hata kama nini), about what you say in the first post. Calculated, planned murder cannot serve as the defense of being driven beyond one's normal self-control. This is available in cases like, you come home and walk in on your SO with another and you go berserk and unleash some violence. If you go into the kitchen and find a knife, that will still pass. But if you leave and go contract a killer or look for a gun or otherwise act with calculation further and further away from the initial triggering event, you lose the ability to argue that you were possessed. It becomes more and more that you simply committed murder with forethought and all the rest of it.

That makes sense.

The old name is now associated with a failed project.  D-Rose was good while he lasted, but he ultimately is a bust.

Ok, so the timeless Termi it remains for me. Haki bitmask just aint very pretty. I also forgot to say that even when that defense is available, it's not a complete one like self-defense. You just escape the hangman's noose and get manslaughter instead. It's the law's way of saying: this is still a bad thing but we get you are human and frail.

The religious and positivity nonsense has brought up one of the most useless generation. No parent is willing to invest in tough parenting showing kids that life is full of shit and suckers. Once something small happens these useless grown up kids cannot process anything else.

Based on religious nonsense of one man one wife; it is possible that 99% of those aged between 12-35 today believe it is right to kill their spouse for 'betraying' them!! It is unfathomable how two adults who have met when aged 25 -35 years believe that 'I own you' 'You belong to me'!!

You can't dismiss feelings.  It cannot be a warm fuzzy feeling catching your beloved other being shunted by someone else for most normally adjusted people.  Mental health is often overlooked in Africa.

Like Geemail says, it's seems to be a marketing hoax like the Mombasa car thieves.  Targeting a region already steeped in superstitions.  Yet a mainstream media outlet runs with it hook, line and sinker.  There is a reason such things don't happen on the Mag-mile - too many people who would recognize lunacy on sight.

But regardless of the fiction, the philosophy of going after the adulterer and rescuing wifey is there

Either they are all nuts, both Ouma and "guy dogging his wife".  Or they are pulling wool over everybody else's eyes.  I believe the latter.

Lol, Termi, I've always wondered: What happens with uchawi when it reaches the city? It seems the cure for nightrunning is a mixed neighbourhood, street lights, thugs and watchmen?  :D To this day, I have never met a witness of actual uchawi. Just lots of people who know lots of people who absolutely have. I am a believer in immaterial reality and even I have a very hard time with these stories. My grandpa lived to a ripe old age and dismissed them for the same reason despite his lack of education. Used to say, "All my life I have been afraid of witches. But where are they? I have never met them." Simple enough. Lol.
