This wasn't kibaki project. This was the dumb idea of Nderitu Gachagua who was a terrible governor, he had another stupid idea of building a crazy big market at chaka. The karatina market isn't finished yet because they're building 3 storeys building ( plus the normal inept government delays). Farmers and traders biggest problem isn't availability of a physical market, its other facilities like cold rooms that are necessary. Open markets with stores are allover kenya idle, in kirinyaga there's one at kibingoti that's idle or soko mjinga on Nairobi-nakuru highway. Its like the Kenya industrial estate where they built 2 storeys buildings that no industrial company can setup shop in.
