Why Amina Mohammed Lost Despite Heavy Bribes
« on: January 30, 2017, 07:04:03 PM »
There are many reasons being cited especially with neighboring countries snubbing her and voting for candidates from other regions. I am still trying find the detailed vote to see how countries voted.

Tanzania is confirmed to have NOT voted for her. There is a rumor that Uganda eventually failed to vote for her. That was expected after Kenya stabbed Specioza Kazibwe in the ribs by presenting Amina Mohammed.

Sudan voted for Chad which is natural with fellow Zaghawas being President and Foreign Minister.

There is talk of heavy bribes. I always wondered why Kenya thought they could bribe Idriss Debby who has the entire petro dollars at his disposal. It's a case of failing to understand the people you want to preach to.

Then the trip to South Africa. Did they read the various resolutions passed by ANC affiliates, SADC over who should succeed Nkosazana Zuma?

Now Jubilee is blaming Raila for Amina's loss.  Ati Raila called the other African leaders  and told them not to vote for Amina.

The Ethnic Rag has launched a massive attack on sovereign nations that refused to bow to to the Jubilee bribes. They are particularly stung by Morocco.

Some things have to be done using a small bit of a brain. How do you go to another country to bribe people over there to support your own foreign minister while that very country is herself fronting her own foreign minister for the same position? Didn't they know that Chad is a Muslim country that would not vote for a woman just like that? Once Amina remained the only woman facing Mahamat, the fight was over.

It didn't help that Kiunjuri started dishing out bribes. He forgot that their man - Lee Ping - is no longer there to facilitate the bribes like he did when they were allowed to screen a tendentious anti-Raila video, paying delegates to watch. All because Raila had been named to lead peace talks in Ivory Coast?

The Jubilants didn't think they needed to put in serious work.  They overestimate Kenya's clout outside East Africa.

Why only outside East Africa? Even our good neighbours Tz, Burundi, Rwanda, S. Sudan and Uganda abandoned Amina in the hour of need.

She's unlucky. AU also ended up backing another African over her in the WTO position too (can't remember what it was) before she became Uhuru's Foreign secretary. I am glad the clout is small. Good news for those of us who don't want any Africans pulling out of ICC.

The ouruto government is a government of lightweights.  Most African leaders rise to power after some kind of national achievement as opposed to ouruto who are here solely based on tribal numbers, stolen money, and stolen elections. The other African leaders do not relate to them. J  This is why the other African leaders have no respect for them. They view them as empty suits with no gravitas and wet behind the ears.  There is really no personal experience that Ruto or Ouru would tell to inspire anybody.  I am sure they do not even read or are capable of reading and discussing anything beyond the current news and gossip.

How did she get the UN job without French?  I said when she went for CS job that she will regret. The price to pay was too high for a few extra free corruption millions which she could eventually get if she stayed at her job. She thought it was the short cut to the UN Secretary General job.

Sometimes you lose otehrs you win. Its a fact of life.
She should  take responsibility for being so vocal regarding ICC, and that's her downfall.

She thinks Kenya's neighbors should be re-evaluated.  Whatever the fuck that means.  How about withdrawing from AU Amina?

Kudos to Amina for coming close and Kenya under Jubilee is starting to get it's foreign policy in place & throw it weight around. Kenya is largest non-mineral economy in Africa. It should make it count.

Exactly how is Jubilee FP "getting in place"?

Explain these:
  • East African countries ganging up to divert the pipeline from Kenya on some pretext which even you didn't believe
  • Ethiopia embarrassing Uhuru by denying agreement on any joint Ethiopia - Kenya pipeline
  • Magufuli avoiding Kenya for a whole year or so before coming - contrary to the tradition of the maiden trip being to Kenya
  • Do you by any miracle recall the banning of KQ (and what you said about The Kenyatta Dynasty and Kenya's FP???)
  • How many times did applications for deferral etc fail at the UN. How many Kenyan wishes have passed at the UN under Uhuru?
  • How about the Somali Refugees spat? How did that help to "get Jubilee FP in place"?

Kudos to Amina for coming close and Kenya under Jubilee is starting to get it's foreign policy in place & throw it weight around. Kenya is largest non-mineral economy in Africa. It should make it count.
