America should and Must Declare Obesity a health CRISIS
« on: January 09, 2017, 08:11:05 PM »
yesterday i decided to go buy milk and bread late at night. A man and his wife are behind me on the the checkout line. The AA man is about 35 to 40. Guy weighs about 350 on a 5Ft 5 inches frame. He is breathing heavily can barely walk and his wife is telling him that something is wrong with him. He seems to be in a respiratory distress he is not taking in enough oxygen. It didn't look good for this fella. I checked out and just though the only reason this man may be hasn't sought medical help was he is poor and may uninsured or under insured. This man will collapse in no time and if he does not die will leave over $250K cost in the healthcare system. America has not less than 20% of population in this man's condition. If you attack such a disaster you can save billions and increase productivity to pay for the cost. the other thing is we need a serious health debate on how to solve the food crisis in this country. We are feeding humans like they are pigs being prepared to provide bacon and other greasy meats.

But America is land of idiots and some discussion like this will result in cacophony of idiocy and lunacy

A case like this would just need $20K gastric by pass and $10K to treat this fella before and post operation. The cost will go down as more of these fellas get treated due to economies of scale

Healthcare in this country is rigged to NOT work unfortunately.  It's a hostage of big pharma and the insurance industry.  Whatever system those folks in Washington come up with, it will only go through if these two constituencies sign on it.  When you are covered, you will get the best medical attention the world can offer.  But woe unto those who are not covered.  Seeing a physician to treat a simple illness and you may be entertaining financial ruin, if you fully follow through with treatments.  It is going to get worse under Trump.

America has taken capitalism to the extreme. it has to have a profit motive or it wont work.. All nonprofits that work as nonprofits ahve folded only PSEUDO non profits are remaining in the healthcare arena
