Huduma Centers are Raila's Brainchild
« on: July 30, 2016, 01:37:02 PM »
No need to argue. I'll just drop the evidence and leave the question: If Raila was behind SGR and LAPPSET, Bypasses and general Road infrastructure, Kibera Slum Eradication and Huduma Centers etc, what ORIGINAL idea can Jubilee and Uhuru point at?

Am all ears

You mean he has to start spinning? Nah. How far has that got Jubilee? Where did it get Blair? And Bush?

There is a limit to how many air buggers wrapped in Cassava leaves you can sell before consumers realize and demand some beef between the cassava leaves. Jubilee has over done it and it is returning to take them on with a fury yet unknown.

No, not spinning per se but getting some kind of coherent message across. Most of what we read in the newspapers are amusing articles/pictures of RAO acting the fool i.e.

Or the infamous MIB episodes, the infighting, etc.

Like Darth Vader, I think there still could be some good in Raila. His team is basically pathetic and make him look much much worse than he probably is.

Raila is technically better than uhuru, however he fails psychologically. Raila ought to attract blue collar subset kenyan voters more.

He spearheaded the demolition to pave way for bypass... He is the type of guy that will easily bring to an end chaotic public transport among other.

This is why they, the culprits, label him "anti-development/poverty agent"

No, actually the other way: If people like you want to help Raila and CORD, you should spin less, stop seeing Jubilee conspiracies everywhere, and generally be more objective.

By the way, I don't care for spin, but, far as I can tell, Bush and Blair got exactly what they wanted from it and are now happily retired.

Ideas and visions are a dime a dozen, execution is everything. Indeed new regimes should just implement what is already planned. This is actually a plus for Jubilee - taking up Huduma, LAPSSET, Vision 2030, etc. We don't need "new" ideas with the all in existence.

Speaking of ideas and performance...

What do folks here think of ex-CS Waiguru of Huduma and NYS fame? She is a Michuki-type performer. Should Nairobians hold their noses and give her a shot at governor, or gamble with the inexperienced non-performer Eugene Wamalawa?

Kidero is a no-no given his dismal score. Same goes for Sonko the drug-dealing trash-talker.

These are not new ideas. It's a continuation of bilateral deals inclusive of private firms and white/blue collar workers for the benefit of public transparency. For instance,

This wouldn't even be possible without Vision2030.

This is lame. It smacks of someone running on empty. Unless Raila has a patent for his great ideas this are just gov projects and plans that lie idle until they are executed. LAPSET last I heard was planned in the 70s.

Does it harm for Jubilee to admit that the ideas are NOT their own? This would not be spoken if they were not trampling around the country pretending to have original ideas. Ruto's daily mantra is "the opposition has no ideas" while implementing what the very opposition came up with. No wonder Jubilee thinks the opposition is a think tank to give them ideas to implement.

I am just setting the record straight and when Jubilee comes up with a genuine and original idea like Jonathan Swift wrote in Gulliver's Travels, I:
Quote
... would take such Caution, that [Jubilee] should have the Honour entire without a Rival.

Why would they do that if they can benefit from claiming the ideas?    Wouldn't doing so be a bit stupid?   Besides, aren't such claims the norm in Kenya?    The aspiring MP campaigns on "I will bring you this road, water supply, ...", and when the government eventually acts on some old plan, the incumbent goes on with "see I brought you this and that".    My local MP is, on the whole, useless but still does very well.  When I asked the locals why they think he is a good leader, the best they could come up with was "He brought us CDF money".

Look, the average Kenyan doesn't go around looking at ideas, plans, their history, etc.; he or she looks at just the here-and-now.    To get the level of understanding you seem to expect requires a level of civic education that nobody---neither CORD nor Jubilee---is really interested in.   Too much hard work.   SO best to just accept the reality.

First, you really shouldn't say the opposition, unless you also count Kibaki's side as part of the opposition. Second, is Ruto really wrong?   I have heard plenty from the CORD side on how Jubilee is messing up; but I have heard very little on how CORD would do things differently.

The reason why Ouru is president and Raila is not has nothing to do with ideas or media or spinning. It has everything to do with money and tribalism in Kenya. Raila's ideas have always have won the day although he is not president.  Whether it is 1) presidential term limits 2) multi-party 3) the demise of Kanu 4) devolution 5) the new progressive Katiba, infrastructure development, rural electrification, Raila has been talking about these things before Ouru and Ruto came into politics.  People view Raila as a political failure because he is not president, but if you are looking at the single individual whose ideas has influenced Kenya the most in the last 20 years then I would say it is Raila.  Presidency is not everything.

To be honest, RAO should have been president in 2008 but we know how that ended up. In 2013, he should also have been president but he and his team messed up royally although I do have a sneaking suspicion he really would have been rigged out if he gone into the elections seriously.

Look, the problem with RAO is that he sucks at managing, which always costs him whatever he's trying to do (see wikileaks on Orengo's opinion on RAO when he said "Odinga has done nothing to reorganize his office to make it more effective; Odinga is a poor manager who does not follow up; and he is primarily focused on preparing for his presidential run in 2012, Orengo said.").

Unfortunately, the exact same thing is being repeated today with regards to 2017, with RAO being solely focused on getting the seat but not on the how. If RAO were to become serious, I see him offering a serious challenge to Uhuruto
