CORD are hopeless as of now. They need to at very least take MaDVD and of course retain their 2013 coalition. Then it will be dicey 50-50%.

Kalonzo is a sly, slimy SoB.  [Insert here "necessary" but not "well-meant" apologies for the  "rough" language.]   Having him in a coalition is like putting a viper in you pocket and hoping all will go well .... only to realize that the snake has found the small hole in the pocket and taken its fangs to "critical components" down there.

That said, it is hard to see---from current events and events in the last 3 years---anything to suggest that CORD might be positioning itself to be a winner in the next elections.    The mess, especially in ODM, is so huge that one is tempted to believe that these people enjoy being in the Opposition but are not ready to, or even care to, "step up".

CORD has not displayed the form of leadership expected of them, same as the high flying Jubilee. Most Kenyan politicians have no basic knowledge of what they are supposed to do

To my mind, CORD has at least two very serious problems:

(a) Nobody seems willing to accept (or even imagine) the fact that Raila might simply be to old and tired; one cannot be a firebrand revolutionary" forever.   Of course, age and diminishing vigour are need not be impediments----but only if one is willing to seek and listen to good counsel and to re-invigorate one's party.   That does not appear to be the case here.

(b) At the core of CORD is ODM, and ODM is centered around Raila.    The arrangement does not allow any sort of what one might think of as "succession planning".  If say, Raila went to meet his Maker.    What would CORD and ODM amount to?  I have three points here:

- the straightforward one is related to (a);
- the second  is the "ODM hooliganism" and "(party) elections rigging" that tarnishes the whole coalition;
- and the third is that with so much depending on him,, Raila should have been doing much more at the grassroots levels.

As long as the people who can succeed Raila in Nyanza are comfortable in status quo CORD aka ODM wont progress. I think Orengo has something happening in his life that makes him want to bow out quietly. CORD has lost 2017 even without trying. Hopefully they can convince MADVD and NEW KANU to join them for a hail Mary try.

We do not need Raila succession. The new order will create a path for his sucession after 2017 thrashing.

By 2022  governors who would have won two terms and done a lot for their county will be the alternative leaders. I wonder who is Nyanza or Western will be emerge.

 In Ukambani Kalonzo chance is 2017 after that he will be replaced by someone else and his kingpins akina Musalia and Muthaura will be too old to help. Kilonzo Junior is emerging as a performer according to Kamba region observers (this is from antetode evidence I have from bloggers in Ukambani)

unless you are Mutahi Ngunyi you should ask him to give you credit for advancing the theory that CORD is looking for a coalition government. Mutahi was selling this at JKL as his original idea.

I remember in the other Place I mentioned about tyranny of majority and Mutahi went out and belched tyranny of numbers and he became a GEMA Phrophet. We need to copyright some of this punditary so that we can join the Contract mafias be paid

I am impressed Kalonzo has not yet left CORD.  Apart from having no reform track record, he has only been mentioned in minor scandals.  By comparison Wetangula is a convicted election offender and a walking scam.  Raila is not much better.

Kalonzo and his supporters should probably start packing up their shiet and decamp now. RAO is dead set on being President. Anything shy of that is just not good enough. He certainly would not agree to chaperon Watermelon through the 2017 presidential election, mostly riding on his coattails.
