Mugabe racist rant at AU

AU is a joke. I couldn't help but feel pity for this moribund organization as dictator Mugabe railed against west in a racist diatribe directed at UN. How does Africa  benefit by name calling of members of UN? this dictator had to hoist himself on the podium as his 91 year old gait was giving up. at one point he had to hold tightly on the podium as legs buckled. His Aide De camp and another minder were very nervous that the old goat my fracture its hip at the stage bellowing nonsense

Ban Ki Moon, Secretary General of the UN,  was in Addis Ababa last week and attended part of the AU sessions; among other things, he urged African leaders to stop trying to cling to power through any and all means, etc.

On the day of said rant and the usual African-Solutions-For-African-Problems, Ban was on a tour, arranged by the Ethiopian government, to see numerous skeletal Ethiopians and their similarly skeletal animals.   One of the people accompanying him was the Ethiopian Deputy Prime Minister, who made an impassioned plea for "international donors", the UN, etc.  to provide urgent and desperately needed  food aid.

I just finished watching news of starving Ethiopians on BBC. I just lost appetite of my dinner. So why was Africa not addressing how to fill the UN gap for food aid in Ethiopia. If our murderous president would have spent time offering subsidized powder milk from Kenya market and UHT instead of talking about non issues such as ICC.

There is also Burundi.   After the colourful announcements of Dec, we thought that (as one of my friends put it) the so-called East African Standby Force would stop standing by and start standing up.   Alas.   As expected, on the basis of past "performance", that is not to be.

Also interesting during the "tough African talk" of this session, and especially interesting for Kenyans, KDF and their "tough-talking" President: Great concern was raised over the fact the EU has decided to reduce what it pays for the AMISON soldiers.    Apparently the EU foots the entire salary bill, and the various governments cream off a 20%-25% "administrative fee" from that.    Anyways ... according to the AU, a reduction in salaries will affect morale, which means ...., and, therefore, the EU must ...

But of course, Africa has African solutions for African problems, and if people f**k with Africa, then there will be withdrawals from the ICC, the UN, the XYX ...

AU is the biggest joke on earth.
Does anyone take those meetings serious?
Compare this club of dictators with ASEAN. Ever heard ASEAN head of states meeting to settle "personal challenges" and hurling abuses at other countries?
Only Africans still blame colonialism for the current problems and remember even most ASEAN countries were colonies some 60 years back.
