SGR: People Already Making Money
« on: December 14, 2015, 06:24:00 AM »
Forget trains, cargo, passengers.   Money is being made here and now, without any of all that.

Quote
THE Kenyan taxpayer has lost about Sh400 million through fraudulent and inflated compensation claims for land meant for the construction of the Standard Gauge Railway.

Expect a real fight over the route for any extension.   We have already "invested" and must have it go through our land.

Govt should not pay current market rates to acquire land. They should use eminent domain. Calculate the average over 10yrs and then pay 1/2 that rate, otherwise it'll be very expensive for any project.

That is ridiculous suggestions. The right to fair compensation cannot be gain said. If there are disputes, the high court should made the decision on what the fair value is. The issues to do with graft should be dealt with by EACC.
