This is unfair to his county but a good chance for Kalenjins to either show their cards now or continue playing them under the table.

Who will then "summon" governors to Nairobi?
The senate was a noble idea to strengthen and oversee over devolution but the minute senators started the war with governors, they lost total direction. Today nobody seems to know what the senate stands for or what its functions are supposed to be.
The funny thing is many of these current senators are now eying the governor post e.g. Kiraitu in Meru and Khalwale in Kakamega..

Senate should be scrapped.

MCA can do that job. Senate is a joke nobody takes seriously.

MCA should take care of the governor the same way MPs take care of PORK.

Cheserem Commission of Allocation will come out with formulae of sharing money.

What exactly is the senate suppose to do...NADA.

Based on my understanding on how senate works in the US over 200 years, its function should have been to check the national government.  Parliamentary motions would be passed only when the 2 houses agree.  The idea is to promote give and take in the deliberations of both houses.  It also tends to ensure that counties from regions with smaller populations(tribes) can carry more weight against extremist ideas from otherwise more populous counties(tribes).

Its pretty messed that they came up with the notion that it should check governors, who already have MCAs for that role.

Given that its role is now confusing, I think either the senate or the assembly should be scrapped.  Scrapping the national assembly would save Kenya a lot more money and headache than scrapping the senate.
