I have a master security licence in NSW endorsed by the police and yes we've designed, installed, maintained security in public/govt/diplomat homes and offices. Security as in every day security in public premises are handled by private firms. This includes law enforcement security. Police have security firms look after stations. We've even done security installations for the defense force, airport, navy. However govts are poor, still a public povo service, most of our ludicrous security contracts are Arab clients who have so many investments going in Oz like hotel chains in the middle of nowhere, private airstrips, private islands I kid you not, my dad designed & inatalled for a private island. Engineers in the army/police are young and stupid. Do you honstly think the govt leaves such matters to inexperienced dunderheads? They don't. So what in goodness names does this have to do with devolution?

Dad used to tell me how depressing govt projects were. In early days he did lots of public/govt tenders but then stopped. Like they asked him to do Christmas Island. He pulled out shortly after because he felt home sick and the place was sick according to him. Govt projects are depressing from the stories he told me. He was much happier with Arab clients like the magnificent high rises in Dubai (he's done work there), to challenging offshore oil rigs, to challenging eco modern hotel chains. I used to help him with decorating christmas lights at shopping centers like Westfield chains. A "side" job for me. As a little girl I'd piece together the power plugs like daisy chains. The chains just wouldn't stop. Thousands upon thousands of lights. I remember crying because I couldn't finish it after weeks even with other staff helping me. Still hadn't finished and due in a day. Dad told me it was ok. I woke up the next morning and it was all done. Dad had stayed up all night and completed it.

Veritas,
Why Devolution you ask? Because we proponents of devolution belief that with a devolved police force accountability will be better. A police chief answerable to local elected officials will be more responsive than an appointee only answerable to corrupt inept central command in Nairobi or county headquarters. Corruption can only be fought bottom up. Minimize corruption at lower ranks of police command and then the funds going up the chain will dry.
On cameras let me know how you envision this working in Kenya in places where we lack even the basic communication technology? These cameras will function only in urban areas
. By the way sell me a kit and I can install it in my home to be able to supervise my employees remotely. Inbox me details .. I need to install them in two commercial properties

GC, I'll send you two for free. I'm still working on it. I'll let you know when I'm happy with it. I've managed to make with expensive hardware and sophisticated coding, but now I'm trying to make one using cheap parts, simple coding. You may also want to experiment yourself. Google "smart cities" "IoT"

:D

You don't have to put my kits together. It's premade and you just need to copy and paste code. Also open source meaning you can do whatever with it.

It'll make more sense when I upload on website.

...ok. Back in the old day we used to "program" and write "code" from scratch. Java, C++ I recall staring at the screen for weeks stuck on a script. Thank goodness today there's so much documentation & open source. Copy and paste everything.

You've used "code" by posting here. This forum uses html, java, sql, php, BBC code.

I just met a business partner from SA. He was lamenting how he wants to get into the energy business in Zimbabwe .. his idea is to get lights that can be powered by batteries or solar for cheap that can substitute erratic power grid in Zimbabwe. Do you know of any quality affordable thing for such work. We can move this to inbox so that we do not ruining this thread

to us layman on Code we are ignorant we just press buttons
