Ruto says from next week the interest rates will go down. Let us wait and see if he is day dreaming.
They have the situation under control. :D :D :D

The interviewer is very weak. Does not open his mouth and lets Ruto talk 99% of the time.

You can't pin down someone who come thoroughly prepared with facts and figures on his fingertips. Ruto is by far the most brilliant of the sorry bunch of politician we have. They are few who can hold the candle when it come to nailing down issues with requisite details.

Ruto talks a lot and very convincing but most of the time it is hot air. A few examples:

1. After the Mpekotoni attack, Ruto told the world the Kenyan military had killed the attackers and we were shown pictures which turned out to be over a year old. A day later just near Mpekotoni another village was attacked.
2. After the Garissa University massacres, Ruto said all refugees in Kenya will be relocated behind the borders within 90 or was it 60 days. Now more than half a year later nothing has happened and eventhe number of refugees in Kenya has increased as more come from S. Sudan.
3. Ruto also propagated the Kenya govt will build a wall along theSomali border. Not heard how far the wall is butmy guess not 1 km is standing and eventhen the cost for the 1 km must be astronomical.

Well, Ruto is gov parrot and good one at that. If  police or kdf say they will do this or that, then ruto will parrot that. If it doesn't pan out, Ruto duty is to explain why. Plans or Ideas are just that...some get done...some proof hard like the laptop...some get done later.

Now Jubilee increases taxes in order to cover the cash crunch the govt faces.

Why do they not start by fighting corruption in the procurement of govt services? A good example is listed below:

Kenya can only do well if the US economy is doing badly.  Rutonomics is what it is being called.  The interviewer is illiterate in basic economics.  He doesn't really understand what the hustler is saying.  So he can't tell that the hustler himself is also clueless.

They should have had someone like Dr Ndii interview him.  But of course he wouldn't have agreed.

The interviewer should have just stuck to the basics.  What happened to the promise that the rates would come down after Eurobond.  Why it seems so difficult for the government to explain in plain English how Eurobond was used.  Why he disagrees with kamwana about ICC prayer rallies.

Funny thing is the interviewer did not even mention that the term "cash crunch" is in the air. I cannot remember hearing that term even during Arap Moi's error.

Pundit, have the interest rates started going down this week as DP Ruto promised last week or was he just blowing his trumpet as usual without knowing what he is saying?

Let us leave Ruto's corruption out of this topic here as that is a story for another day.
Ruto is totally clueless. Just read what is to come out of his promise a week ago that interest rates will be down in a week. Now CBK says in the not in the next weeks will the interest rates come down. Ruto is just lucky that Kenyans are gullible and never get to listen to the details.

Even if they are not gullible, they are prisoners of the tribe.  The hustler is the leader of a one of the two tribal factions in power.  I have seen otherwise intelligent and well exposed Kenyans lose their marbles where the tribe comes into play.  A sorry state of affairs.  Our heritage from the founding father.

I think the rates have already began falling...which is good news for everyone except a few who wish the country bad. William Ruto therefore was ON TOP of things.

Rates on free fall. There was just no fundamentals supporting the "economic crisis".

The rates that are falling appear to be the rates at which banks lend to each other and the rates at which GoK borrows.  For "everyone" to consider that good news other rates would have to fall.   Are they?

The Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) now wants commercial banks to lower their lending rates to reflect the market conditions and save borrowers from the pain of expensive loan repayments.
...
In the past few weeks, borrowers have been slapped with a sharp rise in interest rates with some inching towards 30 per cent, thanks to the Government's borrowing spree.
...
Njoroge conceded that CBK did not have the power to determine how much banks charged on their credit facilities as it was a liberal market.

The banks shelves plan to raise interest..after dramatic fall of  treasury interest from 22% back to 9%. Like I had earlier said...the kenyan economy is sound and what happen last month was just a blip.

Borrowing money externally is what is bringing interest rates low but the reasons causing cash flow shortage have not been addressed. It is like you using your credit card for groceries meanwhile your expenditures are just piling up and bills are going unpaid. You can only charge credit for too long.. There two schocks coming.
1.   El Nino Damages to infrastructure .. leading to less tourism and agricultural activity
2.   Lower commodity prices due to anemic Asia and Europe economies.. Tea and Coffee will continue to underperform. Mining activities in coast will halt
