He makes a good point about a question that usually puzzles Kenyans in Kenya.
Why do most diasporans prefer to invest and live in the rural areas?
1. They've lived in packed, stressful smoky Western cities for most of their life abroad so the serenity and slow pace of the rural areas jells very well with them.
2. In the West (UK in his case) most of the working classes live in the grotty cities while the landed aristocracy spends lots of time in the country Manors

I would add that land is obviously much cheaper away from the cities, so buying huge chunks you can transform into your own little mini kingdom is very appealing . Especially since all the amenities (power, water, internet) can easily be sorted these days.
