Tues 10th August 2027, Election Day
KANU chairman and former Baringo Senator Gideon Moi failed to appear at the IEBC County Offices in Kabarnet to submit his nomination papers for the upcoming senatorial by-election, missing his allocated window between 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.The absence sparked confusion and frustration as KANU supporters staged a walkout from Kabarnet Stadium, while thousands of residents waited at the Baringo Airstrip and some gathered at the KANU headquarters, chanting slogans such as “No Gidii, no election,” in protest of Moi’s failure to present his credentials to the IEBC.The no-show comes just days after Moi held a surprise State House meeting with President William Ruto, where the two reportedly discussed the by-election, Moi’s family business interests, and Ruto’s request for Moi to step aside for UDA candidate Vincent Chemitei, a request Moi is said to have declined.
