Look like real tribal clashes - not politics - over "stima"  :-\

Online bloggers are discussing that it is  Maa vs Kyuk. I hope it doesn't spread further!
Quote
John Wanjiru
for those asking..this is what happenned..
1. Protest in Tipis on Friday over 3 months without electricity. Roads blocked by residents, mainly Kikuyus.
2. A Maasai man tried to force his Probox through a barricade. Stopped, he drew a knife. A fight broke out and his car was vandalized.
3. Maasai vowed revenge. On Saturday they stormed Tipis market, warning Kikuyus selling livestock.
4. Violence escalated. Goods were seized from Kikuyu traders. Clashes spread through the market.
5. By today morning: one timber yard burned, one person shot dead by police, several injured by Maasai knives.
6. Kikuyus targeted first. Now Maasai are also threatening Kipsigis, saying they don’t want them in Tipis.
7. Families fled. Many spent the night hiding in bushes.
8. Police deployed to Gacembe side. Maasai groups advancing from Oloropil towards Tipis.....

The maasais were opposed violently to resettling of the 2007 PEV IDPs in that Tipis area lands.

With the evictions from Mau this is keg powder with no maasai grazing buffer zones disappearing. They need to invade Mara.

Kenyan tribes are like active volcanoes. It can erupt any minute. I pray and hope Maa doesn't kill one Kipsigis. Their retaliation, as always, will be epic. The group will regroup at night in large numbers, strike just after midnight, and conclude their operation by 5 AM with unprecedented destruction!

I think you are conflating Maa with the cowardly Kikuyus. Kipsigis usually get kicked around by Maa in Trans Mara or Emurua Dikirr. Like kids. Kikuyus don't suffer as much since they just flee, they only lose property.

There is no cowardly tribe than the Maa in Kenya. The whole of Uasin Gishu was Maa territory until the 1940s. Nandis chased them towards Eldoret-Nakuru, and the Kipsigis drove them further to the present-day Narok/Kajiado. Kipsigis have followed them to Narok and now they are almost 35% of Narok population. In Kajiado, I think Kikuyu are almost 30% of the population because when a new community in, they  they move away!

Maa are socioeconomically backward so they get displaced in the towns by Kikuyu and Kalenjin. But at war they are bad news and kick Kipsigis.

You all know that history: Maa held their own better than Nandi during mzungu.

Maa kicking Kipsigis is new one :) Maa have lost to both Nandi and Kipsigis; since 1850s;  Shida ya Maasai is they are poor in arrows and bows; So once their number dwidled and Kalenjin have grown so much; It pure no match;

But there is so much mutual respect btw Maa and Kalenjin; it football match
