I think most of this aid money and UN expatriates distort Kenyan market a lot. Mainly Nairobi. While majority are crying and living under $2 a day you have whole lot of these burgers living in a $3000 - $5000 per month rent penthouses. We are due for a big correction.

China cannot fill the gap left by the US in aid matters. China does not have the experience and personel for such a heavy task. I am not even sure about the monetary side of it. USAid is a monolith built over past decades. Trump will bring it down and it will not recover. Trump destroys many organistaions and fails to build up alternatives.
