Ruto when he was minister for agriculture gave license to nyambene coffee mills(the wife of the meru guy is a kalenjin), which now is struggling.

Why is it struggling?

Also, how can these cooperative monopolies be broken up? Mbairirie was even worried about her security when she mentioned them.

Another lazy easy path.
No firing and prosecution of those who have been issuing the licenses for abuse of offices.
The KPCUs thieves still living large as we plan to pump more money into the network.

Next year, we will hear how tonnes of coffee were 'lost' due to the cancellation confusion.

All coffee license cancelled

And the mess has started https://nation.africa/kenya/business/coffee-auction-remains-suspended-for-third-week-farmers-hit--4310222 . Early crop is going to fetch record low prices if it'll be sold at all. Coffee farmers from eastern province will suffer greatly since they produce bulk of the early crop.  Government is going to blame cartels for fighting back or some other lame excuse . Liberalize the sector and let the chips fall where they may.

Things are getting thick in the coffee market. It seems KK regime has no clue of how to go about reforming the coffee market.  According to the article below, the international coffee industry is already moving away from the more expensive Arabica coffee that Kenya produces. Interruptions in the supply of Arabica coffee will just open the doors for the cheaper Robusta coffee. Kenya's small scale farmers are in trouble. Once the coffee market chain is disrupted and the world coffee market move on without Kenyan coffee, it will not be easy to set foot again. It is now one month since Kenya exported its last coffee. Nobody sems to know the way forward.

The reforms in the coffee industry are needed urgently, but these have to be thought through carefully and not pushed through by decree.

I think we have about 200k coffee farmers,If you factor the coffee industry from manufacturing logistics shipping, lots of people affected.

Ruto is messing every industry.I don't see how he can get re-elected.

This regime is anti-business especially independent businesses that aren't reliant on government. Administration brokers are busy registering companies trying to takeover from already established companies. Buyers determine prices and Kenya  is a very small producer in the global coffee market, hell Kenya can cease producing coffee and the impact would be much.  Coffee farming especially for small scale farmers wont survive this regime. The idiocy of thinking that government can determine global prices is beyond foolish.

Maybe we can now revive Chepkube. Some of you do not know history. Chepkube is a town at the Kenyan border to Uganda. It was used to smuggle coffee from Uganda to kenya in the 70's in the heydays of Idi Amin regime. Now it could be used to traffic coffee in the opposite direction. :D

Not far fetched, we have to sell coffee somewhere.  Already coffee traders have started sending samples to foreign buyers in rwanda and uganda.

The increasing demand for Robusta shows that mzungu is smelling the lies since Chepkube. The well connected thugs have been selling Robusta from Uganda as Arabica since Chepkubes 70s.
