We have a primitive and untrained police. How many Kenyan civilians die every year through this trigger happy police? They had no reason to shoot. They were not attacked or under threat.

Who relayed communication on the police network?
KDG 200M
KDJ 700F

Does evading a road block warrant shoot to kill?

Did the Pakistanis shoot on the police first?

What a country.

Precisely. Until police are made to write long statement for every bullet shot; they will never account for this; police officer should almost never use a gun; except as last resort.

We need serious reforms in police force.

Very shameful that these are things making global headlines.

Government, even in its best state, is but a necessary evil; in its worst state, an intolerable one ~ Thomas Paine

Not stopping increases your chances of being shot exponentially. The kenyan driver should have known that.  Now, I'm not sure if something else was going on here and if this was a paid hit/assassination (we will found out soon) but always stop first.

It cost between 150,000 and 200,000 to be recruited into the police force. All the thugs that Laikipia and Samburu , who had rich parents are today part of the force.

Reforms should start from recruitment.

Because of endemic levels of corruption in Kenya's security organs at times they do CONTRACT KILLINGS for security agents of a 3rd country...don't rule out this in yesterday's assassination of Pakistani journalist Mr. Arshad Sharif by Kenyan elite paramilitary GSU
@ImranKhanPTI

This is from Ahmed Nasir.  This case is becoming even more bizarre. Why would they agree to a contract killing with a new regime just getting into place? and I doubt the soldiers that actually did the killing will get any money. So, who did the Pakistani's approach? How long ago? and who was paid?

The problem now is that you are dealing with two mafia states - Pakistan and Kenya.

Kenya police and intelligence are rogue. Ruto has the opportunity to be remembered for overhaul the policing services. It has to begin by taking these thugs back to their respective villages - where they can become human again.

Then using technology - have more cameras all over - let the police wear body cameras - whatever technology we can leverage.

The thugs have to be stopped.

The ones you know are sharp, but most are either drop outs or cant communicate or pass a pshychological test.

1) Being a school drop out or being unable to communicate in basic English doesn't mean someone is stupid.Education is not the only definition of being sharp.

2) police deal with murderers robbers prostitutes conmen politicians conmen pastors terrorists dead bodies gun mercenaries peddlers etc etc...so any experienced is able to detect anything instantly.

Most policemen are okay. They just have bad deal - they are ever on transfer, harsh bosses, work in foreign & hostile places, don't stay with their families, poor pay and almost zero growth.

The solution is simple - improve their welfare - by sending them back to work from their homes.

Only the paramilitary wing and big boss should work outside their counties. Let somali police guard somali - Turkana  the same. It their home - they wont see it as punishment if posted to Lodwar or Wajir - while majority of police - their happiness level reduce to -negative when posted there.

90% should stay in their villages with their wifes and kids - at least stay in their county - and they will become better people - and avoid inter-county transfer unless someone has been promoted to senior ranks.

The same way teachers are village pillars - chiefs & ass chiefs are well respected - police can stop being drunkards - and become proper security.

No where except Africa do you have this kind of policing - this colonial relic. People should police their villages.

When did I say America is not safe? America is like mini Heaven. Europe is broke. Kenya is totally not safe for now. Too many killings. Spouse killings, police killings....Kenya is the new murder capital of the world.

So now you want to blame @KaInsect for your own poor choice of words? Punda.
All he did was interpret your statement. Kenya is a liberal & democratic Nation just like South Africa, America etc which inadvertently leads to security challenges.
That said, indeed nobody in their right minds should ever run to Kenya or South Africa seeking sanctuary! Kenya is the country where Ochalan the Kurdish leader was abducted from. Kanu the Ibo was abducted by Nigerian government abducted before flying him out to Nigeria. Kenya is the country where the rendition of suspected Al Qaeda terrorists to Guantanamo bay has taken place. This is a country where Rwandese intelligence operatives, gunned down at forest road round about in broad daylight Seth Sendashonga Who had fallen out with so called 'benign dictator'. Here Mossad, CIA, MI6 and all others all operate freely and certain echelon of government knows and probably benefits financially from it. This is a country where corruption is condoned and the police used in people disappearances!
I would not be surprised to learn that Pakistan intelligence has had a long collaboration with Kenyan intelligence....

Kadudu, Europe is broke. Bankrupt. Its going to be a long dark, cold and hungry winter.

Back to kenya. This murder was sanctioned from the top. Classic hit job. Murder so foul. Kenya is not safe. Tourist and investors should keep off for now.

I was thinking the same thing.  The country is just not safe right now because murder for hire is so cheap, but I wouldn't call it the murder capital of the world (I think Mexico, with it's cartel violence takes that prize)

Dont forget about that former air force commander Mbijiwe who disappeared and no one has heard from him (what did he do?) The problem with Kenya is that these murders
never get solved and no one is ever convicted or even arrested.  So, I don't know what the Indian government will do in this case or even Ruto? what will he tell the Indians? Prosecuting a few lowly policemen won't cut it.

The pakistani's you can forget about because it was clearly a hit and they are not interested in solving it (not sure what that reporter was thinking running to Kenya)

We are still far from South Africa or Nigeria type violence in most part of kenya.
2/3 of kenya is of course wilderness - Turkana - Pokot- Samburu to Lamu
Therefore, we have to INVEST more on policing and security.
We really must focus on where there is crime
1) Urban areas - technology - cameras - more cameras- all over our urban areas. Huwaei Cameras have greatly helped. We need to do even more cameras - in every street corner - intelligent AI facial recognition cameras all over. People need to know somebody is always watching them. All major urban areas - get Huwaei to deploy more cameras - I am sure technology is now cheap - these cctv cameras are doing wonders in fighting crime.
2) Northern semi-arid kenya - we should borrow a leaf from Museveni and deploy KDF to clean up fire-arms and all that.
The rest of the country is generally okay.
Chiefs & Ass chief with Nyumba kumi is sufficent for most rural kenya.
Rarely any violent robbery - just domestic violences.
