There is no charcoal in Baringo so they have set about dispossessing the Pokot. They are stealing their animals and blackmailing them by holding their children and wives hostage in case they stage a recovery attack on the cowards. They then ship the animals to the market. Already 38 cows have been "discovered" in Lanet Barracks - the share of the loot for some senior officer there.

I can see this area really voting for Uhuru in droves come 2017. They will leave their poverty stricken homes just to vote for the man responsible for their suffering.

I am sure the bandits are learning fast.

Tension was high Saturday between residents of Chesitet in Tiaty, Baringo County and Kenya Defence Forces ( KDF) officers undertaking a security operation. The officers reportedly stormed Natan, Chesitet, Chepkow and Napeikore villages, in Silale ward and drove more than 2,000 goats and unknown number of cattle to Chesitet barracks.

Residents claimed the military launched missiles, scaring residents who had been mobilised to confront the officers. Mr Carlos Kapkoikat, a resident who escaped the swoop, said about four choppers hovered in the skies for the better part of yesterday as soldiers on foot moved from one homestead to the other and rounded up women and children.





Kapedo East chief Lomunasiwa Lotlemuria, who spoke to The Standard on Sunday from the bush where he was hiding, said Mysterious discovery

Lanet Barracks in Nakuru County. The cows, according to the leaders, were snatched at Chesakam area during in incident in which 78 cattle were allegedly shot dead by suspected KDF soldiers along Chemolingot- Kapedo road.

This realization should come with a great shock and urgency. Unfortunately few see the dangers of such an ill-mannered force. The military has achieved it's greatest reward - homage from partisan interests. Here is how it works Pundito:

They should steal more cattle. When pokots know that every time they steal 100 cattle and 24 guns, they'll lose 10,000 cattle and 280 guns, then they'll stop. Once KDF reaches the 10000 cattle target mark, they should now concentrate on getting 280 guns. They should know that KDF are the ultimate warriors

Such a policy can only be carried out with massive violations of human rights and potentially introduce ICC Phase II. I know it is the British doctrine and blue print for defeating insurgency. What those pokotos of tiaty have done to tugen and esp ilchamus is nothing compared to what KDF has done to them. Pokot have to know their lifestyle is no longer acceptable. This yr alone they've move Ilchamus 60km away from their border. Personally am conflicted on what need to be done to Pokots...but so fa i think KDF have done anything that evil.
