Lets Pray
« on: November 23, 2014, 10:03:50 AM »
Good morning church,

The title of my message is POWER
1 Thes 1:5 (KJV)
For our gospel came not unto you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Ghost, and in much assurance

So the preaching/gospel to the Thessalonians came in 4 dimensions;
1. Words
2. Power
3. Holy Spirit
4. Assurance/conviction

These four aspects of the gospel are essential for it to be effective. I want to focus on the second aspect, Power. Exactly what does it mean for the gospel to come in power?

Let me digress. Some Saduccees testing Jesus received this answer;
Matthew 22:29 (KJV)
Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God.

I can assure you there are many religious folks who don't know the power of God. They just hear or read of these thing but have never experienced it. What is power?

Acts 2:8 (KJV)
But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

The primary role of the disciples was to bear witness to Jesus' resurrection. He had commissioned them to go and testify but NOT before they received power which is here defined as the baptism of the Holy Spirit. This happened during pentecost.

I want to tell you that the same power is available to us. Peter went on to preach and say the gift of the Holy Spirit is for them and their children and those who are 'afar off as many as God would call'

Luke 11:13 (KJV)
If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?

This power is available to everyone who calls Jesus Lord. It cannot be bought with money. One witch doctor attempted to buy it and was cursed with blindness. The power is not for anything other than being EFFECTIVE WITNESSES of Jesus Christ.

My friends, desire this this gift without which the disciples were unqualified to execute their mandate...it is yours for aksin. Shalom.

Now, let us worship the King of Kings and Lord of Lords for ONLY He is worthy of our praise

2 Timothy 2:4  No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.
