200 diasporians out of 400k Kenyans in U.S.
a Kenyan living in U.S. would rather spend the day making the dollar and send back to Kenya  than wasting a Dollar day voting.
Thats how they see it.
No you are a special case.

The diaspora except for Miguna probably don't really know who Ruto is. Azimio's manifesto is saturated with corporate consultant professionalism so it feels like you're sitting in a Ferrari reading a pitch for the next CEO.

I can see Baba is a genius at the top of his game and can attract big fish hustlers like the Elons and Bezos to invest billions into Kenya's economy with the potential to single handedly drive Kenya out of poverty. Hence would appeal to the diaspora.

Kenya Kwanza's manifesto feels like you're riding in a matatu sharing good vibes, makes me smile reading it and you need to be in Kenya to appreciate Ruto's campaign. It's sunny and basic but maybe that's the voice of Kenya's democracy.

In my opinion, he won. His Hustler theme got him the Trump style votes.
He has to carefully pivot towards attracting the one who pay the bills.
Yes diaspora will re assess their commitment to invest.
Lets see if he can handle the vitriol verbal abuses that Uhuru suffered and ignored.

Diaspora, especially the majority that have disconnected from Kenya over the decades, are voting like the Kenya of yesterday. The upper class in the diaspora, tiny in the minority, are with Ruto, while the usual majority lumberjacks and ass wipers are with senile Bubu. Glad that the election is over, and Ruto has been announced the winner after beating a perennial loser. His first try and he hit it! Though I disagree with him and hate to quote him, Trump would say Ruto "shuttered that sucker to the bone." Tyrone in Watts, California would say, "The big dawg got it in and nutted on they ass"

diasporants don't have time to vote. They are too busy working.  What they hope for is for no one to screw up the country and send it into civil war so they can go back in December for christmas, visit, enjoy , eat their nyama choma, go to diani and come back to america. That's it.

Most Kenyans in the diaspora, a majority of them are kikuyu's and they were for Ruto. They don't like Raila's chaotic radicalism where he'd be ruled by NGO activists like Karua and boniface mwangi telling us to focus on accepting binary/third sex gender people, cross-dressers, homosexuals....they wouldn't focus on the economy, which is what Kikuyu's want.  We'd start hearing things like alshabab terrorists also have human rights and should be treated kindly. Kikuyu's know Kalenjins won't embrace this liberal foolishness and ruto with Ndii will focus on the economy.

RAila has a big mouth but can't execute anything. Mara he'll build nuclear power plants; mara he'll build F1 tracks like in dubai; mara he'll build olympic stadiums. Just foolishness.

Diaspora and Kenya ethnic politics - no difference - same difference. In fact diaspora are more tribal than kenyans - who at least cared about economy - as the last two years been pretty nasty for many. In fact Raila lost mostly because most people are angry and bitter with Uhuru mismanagement.

It's not suprising that diaspora are still stuck with old senile fool because they have escaped the ravages of Uhuru.

Most importantly - most diaspora still largely blame Moi for their economic refugee status abroad - and they see RUto as an extension of Moism.

When the economy collapses, diasporans have to send more in terms of remittances so they know what's happening. An improved economy helps everyone.

Kikuyu's are not socialists. This is why Karua gets no traction. They're entrepreneurs. They don't care about these silly NGO things.

Well -  Raila was promising the status quo - and that is what made him lose to Ruto - despite all the rigging/advantages he had.

Most older diaspora like we have here - still blame Moi/KANU/Kalenjin for their "woes" - nobody really like living outside their home country - and they see  Ruto as the return of Moism.

A lot of Pro-Raila people here in the US had party after party until Chebukati's shinny head emerged from the bunker and delivered the gut-wrenching news.

kalenjins are lazy and have no drive to do the hard work of building the nation.
many kalenjins here are drunkards of the highest order.
therfore the community here do not think highly of them
