The way to entagle Supreme Court it to file a Case requesting clarification if a President was to be impeached would he be able to run for any other office.....Hapo watajua hawajui....
the law is clear...any state office any impeachment is final career ender .. article 75 and article 99.. maybe sonko can follow Martha and file in Arusha east Africa court...then go to Adis to file in Africa court then go to the Hague to file in ICJ... constitution says exhaust all avenue...he still has Arusha lol

sonko is done. the next thing will be him being jailed for corruption. then after that usa will file for extradition on drug or money laundering charges. Sonko is  very evil character.  he has been engaging in a lot of land wash wash in nairobi bit his days have come to an end. everything has a start and an end.

Yes impeached governors are now barred permanently. Integrity is the real winner. Avoid looting - kama unataka pesa enda biashara not leadership.

iebc will use the ruling to make a decision. this is actually very good for chapter 6. judiciary will decide on suitability of candidates. once scok rules it is final. btw sonko now got watch his butt. Eacc and asset recovery can impound his assets and ask him to prove their source
what if the process is abused by political rivals...all these kind of laws eventually make the president powerful.. already suspending governor upon being charged has given dpp powers...now threat of impeachment is a career ender

Graft is a bigger monster than executive impunity. We must pick our poison. This disincentivises thieves and that's a big plus.

It's like ICC: mzungu can abuse it but it still scares many would-be butchers when they see Charles Taylor or Slobodan Milosevic locked up for dog years.

Sonko is done, done politically the only thing remaining is his criminal network. I believe Uhuru want sonko militia to counter hustlers in Nairobi and coast once they steal the election  that's if he is able to pull it off

Bad optics for Kenyan politics. You can imagine in first term if Uhuru was impeached or in second term Ruto was impeached.
Impeachment is a political process and the SCORK should hsve just stuck with they dont have Jurisdiction..
But they do have it (jurisdiction), since impeachment and effects are spelled out in the Constitution. On what basis would they claim lack of jurisdiction? It is the correct decision.

Sonko's mistake was indeed political. It was to fight Uhuru all the way to the Senate instead of raising the white flag sooner, latest when he saw these guys meant to go all the way to a Senate verdict, knowing Uhuru had RAO in his pocket. Ditto Waititu. Always know your vulnerabilities when taking on the state. You don't do it with the kind of background and skeletons these clowns have or without as much clout as, say Baba, has. Utaumia! Kuwa mwerevu.

That said, this is good for the country overall.

Yes anything that send shivers down thieving governors is always good. This also make mcas and senator have real teeth against impunity. The potential of abuse worries me because big boys can hold governor at ransom.

Devolution money instead of going to Development will be channeled to bribe MCAs.
Fights will be there from Day 1 obstructing functioning of County governments.

Noway, even without bothering to read it, SCOK has jurisdiction over any and every question of the interpretation of the Constitution that comes before it either on appeal or during a Presidential election petition. This here is a question directly about provisions in the constitution and other laws that the court is asked to examibe to determine whether the law was contravened by Senate in convicting Sonko. The Court has not found any contravention so it's refraining from interfering in Senate matters. In other words, they are respecting separation of powers; it was Sonko who was asking them to overturn a matter handled by the legislature and the Court is simply saying that barring constitutional contravention (which it hasn't found) it will not. So hakuna shida na jurisdiction.

Senate is there to countercheck MCAs. Governor just needs to avoid graft - and do their real job. Already Wamboras, Waigurus, etc were saved by Senate.

Big problem remains messing with PORK or such big fish. Otherwise judiciary is also there for groundless impeachment. Sonko and Waititu looting was so brazen, this is a perfect outcome.

DON'T LOOT. Governor job is to develop the county not enrich themselves. There should be fewer thieves running now.

EACC at county level will be on their necks. Corruption cases timelines and precedents are looking good. The county accounting officers will not want to hang.

Senate is PORK/National politics. Only a foolish governor will want it to get there. So they will keep MCAS very happy.
