Summer Solstice Swim
« on: June 21, 2022, 06:47:35 PM »
Just completed it this weekend.  2 miles(one heading north and one heading south) on the lake.  I then did a bit of wakeboarding(I would have run instead if my achilles was 100%) in a different lake.  Rejuvenation galore  :D ..

Join a YMCA.  It's cheaper than a gym and they tend to have swim classes and workouts for all ages and abilities.  Long after all the impact injuries from running and everything else, swimming workouts will still be very much doable.  I hurt my achilles 2 weeks ago, doing a 5K run :D.  I could barely walk, but I am still able to do masters swim workouts.

what is this Achilles Heel? After 45 years your foot starts to degrade. I recommend you spend 8 hours bare foot and walk barefoot whenever you can

Man i had gained 20 pounds over the winter. I look a mess. In the last one month I have dropped 10 pounds. My aim is to back to 170 by September and then 160 by November ..I am eating two meals a day and doing at least 1 hour of intensive cardio. I am lifting weight too

Yep Achilles heel.  I am suspecting bad shoes.  They were fairly aged.  But it was also my first run of the season and having done masters swim all fall and winter, I was feeling very fit so I pushed my luck.  My cardio could handle it, but the body was not ready for the impacts.  I'll try the barefoot approach going forward.
