Maisha ni Kunjienjoi shwiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiing shwaaaaaaanghh!!!!
Who doesn't remember this mega club anthem (and radio anthem) in Kwiiinya 1993-1995? :06:
John Karani, Topi Lyambila on Late night Radio
DJ Pinye Club Jungle when he was fresh from the UK (before he started spinning at JayKays)
Classic FM still plays this jam from time to time.
Reminds me too of those pimped out mats with serious Kenwood speakers blasting into Tao back then. Simpler times. Nostalgia galore. President Moi's face and larger than life voice everywhere. Can you believe he's been gone for a year and a half already? Us youngsters looking forward to uni and the next phase of our lives back then.  Carni dancefloor of course packed bin packed! Wazee hukumbuka kweli kweli.

Who wasn't "frozen" at this forsaken entrance at least once?

Memorable times those were!

Once upon a time there was a tavern
Where we used to raise a glass or two
Remember how we laughed away the hours
And dreamed of all the great things we would do

Those were the days my friend
We thought they'd never end
We'd sing and dance forever and a day
We'd live the life we choose
We'd fight and never lose
For we were young and sure to have our way.

La la la la...

Then the busy years went rushing by us
We lost our starry notions on the way
If by chance I'd see you in the tavern
We'd smile at one another and we'd say

Those were the days my friend
We thought they'd never end
We'd sing and dance forever and a day
We'd live the life we choose
We'd fight and never lose
Those were the days, oh yes those were the days
La la la la...

Just tonight I stood before the tavern
Nothing seemed the way it used to be
In the glass I saw a strange reflection
Was that lonely woman really me

Those were the days my friend
We thought they'd never end
We'd sing and dance forever and a day
We'd live the life we choose
We'd fight and never lose
Those were the days, oh yes those were the days
La la la la...

Through the door there came familiar laughter
I saw your face and heard you call my name
Oh my friend we're older but no wiser
For in our hearts the dreams are still the same

Those were the days my friend
We thought they'd never end
We'd sing and dance forever and a day
We'd live the life we choose
We'd fight and never lose
Those were the days, oh yes those were the days
La la la la...

1989-1993 The New Jack Swing years right after the breakdancing years were over!
House Party movies, man. We watched them all! Everybody wanted to attend a house party like the one in the movie including the dance compes but unfortunately it was all fictional :D

Shuffle Muzik - Sgubu
...

Infectious beat. These gels these gels these gels i tells ya. Interesting to see that that tsotsi hat made famous by brown dash and many more in the 90s and 00's is still in fashion among the new generation to date.

Yep.  That tsotsi hat(and chuck taylor sneakers) is a mzansi mainstay.

Shayi Mpempe is another catchy amapiano that I can handle in a line dance.

Yeppers.  90s definitely ushered in a major era, now in its death throes mediated by the mediocrity of the current quality of Akata music.

Man, man man maaaaaan! This song brings back memories! In 1994-5 there wasn't a mathree, a club, a pub, or a heng at which this song wasn't played. Carni played it so much i thought it was the official soundtrack of the club! Asante sana.

Azania is a beautiful country, man. Addictive zikis. Good to see Heavy K and Bucie still going strong after all these years and maintaining the same old skool style to boot.

It's good stuff.  There is even an Amapiano TourKe Channel.  You cannot remain seated, even if you are cripple, when that music starts playing  :D.

Yep.  It has its problems, but hands down one of the most endowed places on earth.  Their music infectious.

Tira and Prof stubbornly refuse to become irrelevant :D.  They know their shit.

Lebo Mathosa's voice sounds a lot like Anita Ward(Ring my Bell).

Your ear is on point man. Super similar indeed. When Lebo went solo is when her full talent came to fruition. I still dig her boom shaka cuts though. Lerato (translation adoration/love) is a timeless classic, man. Every year when I listen to it, it seems to get better and better. 90s kwaito needs to come back maaan!

Thobela. Looks like the (very rare and hard to find) video was shot in Camps Bay.
