He did all the vocals alone

Hehe...there are no rules.  I try to listen to everyting, but yes, I will be partial to certain types.  You know I had no idea who Rihanna was a year or two ago.  Millenials must find her music irresistible the way some of us saw Janet Jackson's.

Well before the youth in the Bronx (or whenever) started wearing their trousers around their knees and "rapping" (supposedly giving us the "modern stuff"), there was funny-guy Pigmeat Markham:

Another of my old favourites ..... Hugh Masekela used to tell this story about his arrival in America.   The wazungu were astonished that (a) he could speak, and (b) he could do it in English!   They attributed all this to his rapid "Americanization" and swore that it had made a lasting impression.  Apparently they thought that his pre-arrival linguistic skills were limited to saying "ooga booga!".

Masekela's "tribute"  was in what I consider, even now, to be his best work ever: Lasting Impressions of Ooga Booga/ The Americanization of Ooga Booga, with album cover showing the nattily-dressed Mr. Ooga Booga---sharp suit and briefcase but barefoot ... in a tropical jungle.

The original LP cover is way better than the CD cover (above) that one can get today:

Yep.  Lasting Impressions was a collection of masterpieces.

This was my favorite

Victor Kunonga has his own other element on a guitar.
