Sudi's case is nothing special in Kenya. I know of a UDA senatorial candidate that only has A level's certificate. He even carries the title Eng., but has never attended any engineering classes. That law requiring any electoral candidates to have university degree should be scrapped. It has no bearing and only leads to more corruption in the society.

It's a stupid law to require people in a very poor country to have college degree's. Many people don't have the opportunity to go to school.  Let voters decide who they want and the let them live with their choices.

@Kadudu & @Sema  nikukosa degree ama both of you cannot interpret the Kenya Constitution? Look keenly at @Pundit post where he has tried to help you understand the law of the land as it applies today:
I believe it (The courts ruled it) unconstitutional (for MPs to require a degree) ... anybody can become an MP now. There is no need for forgery now...except for governors and president.
.... But the law is the law.
The law does not currently require a degree from an MP neither from a Senator. The High Court ruled that unconstitutional. (So it is pointless for MP & Senatir hopefuls to forge certificates). However it is mandatory for a President or Governor to have a degree. The rationale for that is that the president and Governors are National & County govt CEO. They are in charge of expenditure and therefore would need to understand budgets for prudent management of government finances. A good enough reason if you ask me!
Since many senator go on to contest Governership, many politicians have used this rotten Jubilee era as an opportunity to buy papers.

Silly statement. Amin was a butcher.
Exactly. Even Idi Amin took Uganda to the next level.

What the courts decide and what the government does are two different things. Remember too the courts declared CDF illegal. Has it been scrapped? Miguna was declared Kenyan citizen by the courts. Yuko wapi leo?

I can see it was dumb of Sudi to fake his papers. Maybe he just wanted to be on the safe side.

Sudi forged before the law was declared unconstitutional.

He has 2 problems:
1. He may be found guilty of fraud
2. He cannot run for UG governor - he actually wanted to succeed Mandago

Sooner than later this will bite him in the ass despite appeals and abra cadabras.

He will be found guilty - unless court is fake.
He will appeal and buy time.
Ultimately he should be fined...no jail for such offence.
Fraud is not big offence
But if linked to his MP seat - he may be fine more.

But Sudi is clearly not a fool - and will be Ruto Mark Too - and I see him scaling heights.
Governor ni kidogo kwake.

He will replace Mark Too.

If the law was actually followed i believe Joho, Sonko, Waititu would not have become governors.

Wrong Robina.
All the universities that "dished out" the degree certificates to all three confirmed they were genuine. If you ask me, some folks must have got a tidy sum to authenticate this stuff.
Quote
Hassan Joho degree is genuine, says Kampala University VCThe Constitution requires a governor to be a degree holder.

I have highlighted the last paragraph for the benefit of @Kadudu & @Sema. Nation Newspapers schooling people like you. Hayo tu.
