There is over-the-top sex and nudity, and I'm not exaggerating here or being prudish, it's for real, but you can get edited versions or just forward when there's no story being developed. However, the story is really, really good, too many twists and turns, many plotlines, intrigues, enough suspense and shockers to kep you on your toes. It's very irreverent, that story. Much like real life. You cant be sure that good guys will prevail and there are no sacred cows. The most important characters are killed off mercilessly, so you don't even know who the main character is at any point of the story. It hooks you completely, and I think the fights over power by the various mini-kingdoms and houses are in some ways like Kenyan tribal wars. It's obviously based on ancient Rome, at least that's my impression. I hear, though, from those who've read the books themselves, that significant material has been left out of the TV show, so if you're one of those Hermione types, maybe you'd prefer the books.
For me, the TV show is engaging enough.
