Ruto told Raila to step aside for Kalonzo - he refused. Kalonzo would have been done with his 10yrs. Raila would be doing his final. And Ruto would be waiting for his turn.

In the end they gave GEMA another 15yrs in power.

In 2007 won Rererendumn and wanted to exit politics and opt for fulltime partying. In 2013 and 2017 won Presidential elections. Meaning this is a person who know what it takes to win elections and what makes someone lose elections.
He mishandled BBI by design. He is doing the same with Azimio. Why Raila cant learn from BBI is what is baffling.

Kalonzo seem to have gotten something out of his lengthy foreign policy career and negotiations. Hate him but he is an excellent negotiator who always leaves himself a room to bounce when the need arises. At the moment, he has Raila by the balls. Raila now really needs a very strong sober Uhuru to hit the campaign like DP. The problem is Uhuru is not dependable and time is quickly running out very fast!
