Everyone in the rift valley knows Raila didn't sell out Ruto to ICC. However, in politics, anything to vanquish an opponent is allowed in the ring.
Ruto had been uncomorftable that Raila had commanded the Kalenjin people single handedly. Those who recall the periods then, recall that Ruto and many rift politicians followed the masses to ODM and not the other way round.This was a serious point of concern.
Raila must fall. Ruto swore. Ruto made good pact with Raila's greatest nemesis, Moi and Kibaki. 

Kibaki 'appointed' Raila to oversee protection of the Mau Forest. Raila commissioned his minister of lands James Orengo to find new land for the squatters and resettling them. Michuki was Minister of Security. Against timelines agreed by the community on ground,  he sent Armed police to burn houses and beat squatters. This would be seen as a Raila doing. Lands Minister kept writing to treasury and calling Uhuru and meeting him about funds to resettle the squatters as agreed. Uhuru Kenyatta has Minister of Finance. Treasury declined to follow protocol and didn't provide lands ministry with funds to resettle the squatters. No funds meant Raila was insensitive to the plight of the people. Ruto rallied his well oiled political big mouths to insult Raila in the rift valley about the mau forest. It worked in perfect synchrony. Political masterclass. Raila was given a political TKO by losing the rift valley vote.

Raila had been as Prime Minister in many environmental assessment conferences with the UN and G8 nations and knew that, in 20years from that time, Kenya was going to face drought. Our local politicians only cared for cheap political thrills. Clearly, their respective convictions and motives were like night and day. And the environment lost.

To secure the rift valley settlements, Uhuru and Ruto formed Jubilee. As a way to protect the migrants in the rift and foster peace in the rift. That's why Afraha Stadium is the home of Jubilee. Nakuru, for that is where Kalenjins and Kikuyus meet and coexist. Jubilee had development as a secondary policy. Peace and stability in the rift was paramount. Because if evictions happen, it revisits historical land issues that place Kenyatta, Moi and the Mzungu right in the heart of it. And that's how we are slowly turning into a desert. Ruto, Balala and the then Minister of Transport Makwere had teamed up to reward Mombasa Maize Millers Jaffers 3 Billion profit share. When Raila intervened and revoked they told him he will pay politically which he did .

I know all that - Ruto will not fallout with Raila because of one deal - like Mohammed Jaffers GHL - Ruto makes deals almost every day. Or Wanjigi crying over SGR - Ruto is a wheeler dealer per excellence.

Grain Bulk Handling Saga

Prime Minister Raila Odinga and Agriculture minister William Ruto have sharply differed over whether or not the Grain Bulk Handlers Limited should continue enjoying the monopoly of handling bulk grain at the port of Mombasa.

While Ruto wants more firms to be licensed to undertake similar activities as those of GBHL, Raila has persistently defended the status quo arguing that GBHL was still under-utilised. But Ruto maintains that competition was necessary and that the government should license as many other firms as necessary, saying currently the other handlers in the market were too small effectively giving GBHL monopolistic status.

And a fortnight ago Ruto rebuked GBHL management after the firm placed advertisements in the media defending itself against a range of accusations. The agriculture minister told the firm's management that it had no business commenting on whether or not Mombasa needs a second bulk grain handler.

The minister said the decision to license other players was the prerogative of the government. "Grain Bulk should not try and go to lengths to explain an issue that is essentially for the government to determine," Ruto was quoted saying immediately after GBHL had placed advertisements in the daily papers titled "Lies peddled against GBHL in the media".

A tender by the Kenya Ports Authority inviting bids for a second grain handler late last year was suspended at the eleventh hour through the instigation of Raila in a move that has since raised hue and cry among players interested in investing in the sector.

However, the insistence by Ruto against Raila's wishes to have a second bulk grain handler would further raise political temperatures in ODM, which of late is staring at imminent split.

Mvita MP Najib Balala in whose constituency GBHL stands was also said to be in support of a second bulk grain handler. The owners of GBHL do not see eye to eye with Balala. It is instructive to note of late Balala is not in good books of the PM. He hardly attends his functions.

There are speculations that soon rather than later Balala will make a major political move with the pontential to shake ODM to its very foundations. Mombasa Maize Millers controls 33 pc and has eight mills spread across the country. In Nairobi, it runs the former Kabansora Mills located in Industrial area. In Kisumu, the Mohammed Islam Ali group has acquired Swan Millers while in Nakuru, it has bought Grain Milling Corporation.
Back in Nairobi, MMM is also in-charge of Ex-SupaFlo Mills while in Mombasa where it has its headquarters, MMM acquired Ex-Milly, and runs its original plant.

Confirmed reports by Weekly Citizen also reveal that MMM has in its tag, ex-Bayusuf Grain Millers located in Nairobi.

Pembe Group follows with is second with 18 pc while Premier also with two mills enjoys 16 pc in the milling market.

Analysts in the industry reveal, the combined capacity of MMM, Pembe and Premier stands at 3,320 metric tonnes which adds to 67 pc.

It is emerging, other directors of MMM have been pushing Ruto to okay a second gram terminal the reason being that they are importers, millers and distributors and the only link missing to monopolise the grain trade industry is handling at the port.

The other MMM directors caught in the saga are Ahmed Bin Ali and Ali Islam Ali. They are known to entertain Ruto whenever he is in Mombasa.

Dealers in the field openly state that world prices, government taxes and local handling costs affect flour prices in the shops.

Kenya has in the recent past imported the bulk of its requirement of wheat, as land under wheat acreage is insufficient to produce the quantity required. Over the past year mere have been
significant reductions to the cost of wheat arriving at the port of Mombasa.

However, much as is the case for fuel prices, these reductions have not been reflected in changes for the consumer.

In 2007 there was a shortage of wheat on world markets, leading to scarcity and resultant price increases. The price of flour in the shops soared, reaching around Sh 120 for a 2kg bag.

In 2008, the supply side of world wheat production improved, and wheat followed the trend downward of a number of other commodities. Coupled to this, the Government intervened to reduce import duties on wheat, a move which aligned Kenyan millers more closely with their regional competitors.

Has this cost reduction benefited consumers? An analysis of relevant data indicates otherwise.

Prime Minister Raila Odinga and Agriculture minister William Ruto have sharply differed over whether or not the Grain Bulk Handlers Limited should continue enjoying the monopoly of handling bulk grain at the port of Mombasa.

While Ruto wants more firms to be licensed to undertake similar activities as those of GBHL, Raila has persistently defended the status quo arguing that GBHL was still under-utilised. But Ruto maintains that competition was necessary and that the government should license as many other firms as necessary, saying currently the other handlers in the market were too small effectively giving GBHL monopolistic status.

And a fortnight ago Ruto rebuked GBHL management after the firm placed advertisements in the media defending itself against a range of accusations. The agriculture minister told the firm's management that it had no business commenting on whether or not Mombasa needs a second bulk grain handler.

The minister said the decision to license other players was the prerogative of the government. "Grain Bulk should not try and go to lengths to explain an issue that is essentially for the government to determine," Ruto was quoted saying immediately after GBHL had placed advertisements in the daily papers titled "Lies peddled against GBHL in the media".

A tender by the Kenya Ports Authority inviting bids for a second grain handler late last year was suspended at the eleventh hour through the instigation of Raila in a move that has since raised hue and cry among players interested in investing in the sector.

However, the insistence by Ruto against Raila's wishes to have a second bulk grain handler would further raise political temperatures in ODM, which of late is staring at imminent split.

Mvita MP Najib Balala in whose constituency GBHL stands was also said to be in support of a second bulk grain handler. The owners of GBHL do not see eye to eye with Balala. It is instructive to note of late Balala is not in good books of the PM. He hardly attends his functions.

There are speculations that soon rather than later Balala will make a major political move with the pontential to shake ODM to its very foundations. How is Gema route easy? When GEMA were then baying for his blood. ODM was the easy route - because Raila would have gone in for 10yrs - but Ruto after Sagana was done with Raila - he had given Raila one too many chance.

Remember Ruto indeed was not for Raila - he was for Kalonzo - this was because ODM-K committee and everyone with brain - knew Kalonzo stood better chance than Raila.Gumo-Ntimama ODM-K elders - with a secretariat - presented findings showing Kalonzo would win by 58 percent like they had done in referendum - but Raila/MaDVD would struggle. GEMA had no big problem with Kalonzo - but will pull all stops on Raila.

Ruto broke it down to Raila - and asked him to back Kalonzo. Raila and Kajwang started shedding tears in Kenya Club - ohoo people do not like us Luos - bla de bla. The meeting ended. Raila and his Luo crew then besieged Ruto in his house in Karen. Raila run to Kass fm - told people that they wanted him out coz he was Luo -  bla bla - Kalenjin also then were so angry with Kibaki - they need the man kibaki hated the most - Raila.

In short - Ruto gave Raila two chances - and he blew it.

As we speak - Mt kenya are still pulling all stops to prevent Raila presidency.

If Raila failed to maximize his advantages after winning 2007, then how does one let Ruto get away with not maximizing his opportunity to be PORK after Uhuru? He had the clearest path to State House under the Uhuruto partnership but messed it up. Ruto has managed to do what NO MAN in kenya save for Kibaki in brief 2 months under NARA has done - unite GEMA and Non-GEMA. This epic story that is why Ruto is sleep walking to PORK. And everyone else is scrambling to unite.
