Arap Sang and lawyers having it good at ICC
« on: October 14, 2014, 02:36:51 PM »
How ICC takes care of Arap Sang
*A Ksh.120,000 per month appartment
*A monthly allowance of US$2,000
*A VISA shopping card loaded with US$1,000 per month
*Traveling around Hague allowance of US$1,050 monthly
*Monthly calling card worth US$700
*********
*His Lawyers are paid representation fees of US$12,000 monthly each
*A 2 yrs renewable visa and business class return air ticket
*etc etc.

Seem it not only the protected witnesses who are enjoying the largesese...at this rate Arap Sang and his lawyers would love this charade to go on for more years.

Exactly. This is what the Gachie Idiot called a "Bribe". This is similar to the remuneration in the UB system. It is calculated to cater for persons from rich as well as poor countries equally. If you put them to low because it might amount to a "presidential salary" for some African employees, you risk missing qualified staff from the developed nations.

You can't have multiple rates for paying allowances to witnesses from rich countries and for poor ones. Note however those are a poor man's rates. A 120K apartment is really equal to an apartment worth 15K in Kenya even though the quality might be higher in The Hague. USD 2000 should amount to what a welfare client like Njamlik gets in Utrecht. I will email the Dutch authorities for The hague area to get the going rates for welfare clients (may add Utrecht for good measure)

... [the ICC case] will be tried in Europe, where due procedure and expertise prevail.; ... Second-guessing Ocampo and fantasizing ..has obviously become a national pastime.- NattyDread

Both,

Kweli this is a korti bandia... they're now bribing the accused and their lawyers?

Unbelievable.... obviously all said whilst tongue is fully embedded in cheek.

How are the UK spinmasters going to work on this one?  It makes sense that the court supports/compensates all that have been inconvenienced by virtue of it's location.

Katwa Kigen gained 50 lbs within a few months of the start of the proceedings.  If there is a person who would hate for the proceedings to end, it would be Katwa.  Given his new exposure to international crimes, he certainly would love for more cases to come up.  He is now among a select few lawyers with experience in the international crimes circuit.

Baraza lawyer Kibe Muingai is being an idiot to block his arrest; he should facilitate Baraza hand over. Imagine these case typically take 5yrs ; so that is 12*12*5...1.5M usd per annum times 5..you're talking 8M USD.

Kibe has no international experience.  He is probably making sure to milk Baraza to the last drop before he heads to the Hague.  If he lets Baraza go to the Hague, Baraza will likely opt for a seasoned hand like Katwa.

Kenya two cases cost the court annually 20-30m dollars...about 2Bkshs. Total budget for our judiciary is 17B..and they are dealing with case backlog of nearly a million cases.

Those two kenya cases will have cost 10-20B kshs or more when they will be concluded gawd knows when.

International justice is very expensive.

Its a money making system, instead of a justice dispensing system.
The only losers are the IDPs.
I could like to be optimistic, but this thing is going nowhere......

Sorry, i didn't mean a next PEV or anything close. I meant a next high profile case. This is bound to occur somehow and somewhere.
