I have always suspected that Sonko is not even involved in drugs. He may have done some money laundering. My thinking is that Sonko is the best conman of the century in Kenya. He is up there with Kamleshi, Muthama wa Eurobank, Deci guy. His cons I think revolved buying  and dumping real estate, extortion and probably bank fraud using real estate assets. The buy and dump may involve you buying a piece of land in hinterland of Mombasa, influencing surveyors to inflate the value of land, once you have the new over inflated value you borrow against the property. Move to now a lucrative market do this. With let say 70M 20 years ago you could move into Nyali and buy another property play the same game but this time sell the property to legit buyer after playing the same con. You do this so many times and in a country like Kenya where there is need for someone liquid to launder money for others you move into a new game and level. Now you can move into Nairobi and do it a large scale and even be recruited by other players in underworld to launder money for them. Simple. Guy like Kabogo were in Car import business and that the time Afghan and Pakistan Heroin dealers were feeling unclesam war on drugs pressure. So they moved their operations to Mombasa route and used dubai new trade zone route to launder money and traffic drugs


The fact that he was brought down by 38 million corruption case shows you he is not as rich as he claims to be. I think he did the land and real estate abracadabra at coast, moved to Nairobi and did this at a large scale and all sudden he was this mystery that has a lots of money but no known source. I think sonko is the kind that once they lay on their hands on a few millions they create such air around themselves that make everyone think they are billionaires. Governor seat was where Sonko was going to make billions in heist but all criminals have one thing in common at one time or the other they get too greedy or cocky. Sonko got cocky as governor. He was caught with his pants down by his political enemies and other opportunists. I am not sure if Sonko can survive from this.

From a source that was close to jubilee campaign in eastlands  was telling me that sonko was broke in last term as Senator. He was financially unraveling and survived on those antics he used to prey on asians home owners in upper markets. the governor seat was his last stand. Without Nairobi county to use for his pyramid schemes he is done.

Uhuru may have finally figured out that Sonko was all show with no money to back his pomposity

Sonko  came from Kwale  and kilifi. He was never in Mombasa city. Kabogo and Joho had inland depots so they were in drug trafficking..sonko speciality is land fraud and real estate fraud. You can see even in Nairobi as governor he took railway building and is probably going to flip it for a billion

How comes no one has been able to take him on? Could NMS take him out? Will he survive kibicho and kinyua? I think a character like him needs to be freezed out of circulation. I like what US did to the the kingpin mwau. They put a bounty on him and that made him run and go underground

As long as you know how to make money - losing money is nothing for Sonko. His account were first blocked when he run for Mp in Buruburu.The main is a real thug, been through prison and escaped. What more can you threaten such a guy with.

He knows how to make money - and can mint a cool billion given a few months.

He learnt from his father how to make money from land deals. Nairobi has so many land crooks - my uncle who once worked as dcio kiambu - was 90% dealing with land crooks.
