Hospitals in Kenya are deathbeds. Rosemary is a living miracle.

How are you going to fix the hospital when all the resources are going to service debt and salaries. Imagine what a billion shilling per month that's being paid to Chinese every month to run trains, would do if invested in health care

I once met an elderly brain tumor surgery lady who went blind. It was heartbreaking seeing her on her bed trying to come to terms with her blindness. Then by God's mercy she regained her sight.

This family seems to be have a genetic thing that causes aneurysm. I bet you that what killed Fidel may be made fatal by the fact he was an alcoholic. It seem to be from both sides of the family since ida dad died very young and suddenly in his sleep.
The Kenyan doctors didn't do anything wrong. They realized that she was in a condition they couldn't treat. Same with S.A.. The tumor was pressing on optic nerverz and that how she ended losing her eyesight. She is lucky She has bounced back from this. She had two fatal conditions that could have taken her life. A brain tumor alone is serious business add aneurysm and you talking serious condition.

My dad who has had serious heart condition has been treated in Kenya and he been luck to have had good exprience wifh doctors.

Kenyan doctors are as competent as others it is only that sometimes the cases they are seeing are in the last stage.

In Kenya preventive medicine is not that common so we head to the hospital when we are in serious condition

And the reason why doctors deal with last stage conditions is because of lack of preventive care. Most people do not see a doctor until they are sick and sometimes its too late. The most treatable and easy to catch cancer because it grows so slowly is prostate cancer but most Kenyan men die from it because  they do not do any annual check-ups and by the time its caught its too late.

I wish she can get her health back but I think this experience will make her a better politician.

So how were the Chinese able to do this 'magic' in so few days??

The health system is not just about competent doctors - workload, equipment., work ethics, disciplinary actions for negligence and all that - I won't be surprised that your father is being taken care by a friend doctor.

There are many reasons why we hate our hospitals with passions - we only get there when unconscious. Our health seeking behaviours are not just about laziness. Reason why you see quick evacuation to SA, India or Israel if you have the means. Reason why Maraga will quickly be  airlifted to Nairobi after some bruises in an accident in Nakuru.

Healthcare requires money. To get a hospital equipped to have doctors and workers with skills like the one to treat rosemary requires tremendous resources. I bet raila family may have spent upwards of $200,000 in healthcare cost.

Let us be realistic. Karen hospital operates at below occupancy capacity because very few Kenyans can afford the care there. This is small hospital.

My dad is not taken care by a friend but by very competent Kenyan doctors.

We need to stop blaming our doctors for thing they have no control over. How many neurosurgeons are in Kenya? In China it easy to get a team of 5 surgeonscto not in Kenya.

So glad Rosemary can see again. I had high hopes and I feel really thrilled she can see again. Best story of hope in 2019.
