Without warning just changes the interface.  Users can screw established habits.  Someone needs to tell them the desktop is not the same thing as the smartphone.

Yahoo also changed its interface two years ago and I haven't bothered to find out what new features it brought. Very difficult working with attachments. Simply migrated to Gmail.

Yep too much quirk. Twitter was un-innovative ab initio - their shrink in user base, revenues and market cap is damning. Jack Dorsey ain't an imaginative chap - having hit the market with Facebook he squandered the head-start until WhatsApp, Instagram, Pinterest, Snapchat and everyone joined the fray. He needs some magic groove now with so much competition.
