Data science or BI is responsible for the growth of the likes of Safaricom and new tech companies. Better decision are made when backed by emperical evidence from data. Private sector have embraced data science. Sadly the public sector decision making is still made by who can shout more. Parliament for example need to lot more funding in research and data science...so they can make laws that are sound.

Soccer could do with some rule changes.  Maybe award weighted points for things like how many times you miss and hit the post.  As for analytics, this has been used for quite some time in American sports.  I am surprised it's considered newsworthy in soccer.
