Yes it is real! I am aware of this from direct interaction with the GCL Poly guys whom we work with on some renewable energy ventures...., this indeed is at very advanced stages and they have been doing oil exploration in this region for a while.

Incidentally they were also to do some gas powered power plant in Tanzania but Magufuli threw them out.
