I wonder how many here have been following events in Venezuela. Nicolas Maduro (who reminds me of Ruto) after differing with Opposition-lead parliament - formed a "Constituency Assembly" with sweeping powers to fire & hire anybody, approve budget, make laws, change constitution, name it. This amorphous body is full of his cronies of course.

The opposition boycotted the phony assembly elections - including the AG who said they were illegal. Well, the assembly just suspended parliament as the first move, then fired the renegade AG - before Maduro goons even barricade her office. Poor lady was whisked off on boda boda... no more government car 



Well - the brief democratic charade has plummeted back into backwater - as US & EU sanction Maduro and his cabal. It really looks like a movie.

They tend to be opposed to the interests of US companies.  Especially if they are oil rich.  Bolivia is socialist, but doesn't have anything.  So there is little interference from the US.
