He has a love-hate relationship with Kikuyus.  A kiuk must have chomped on his gal - what other explanation is there?  He denigrates them for the same things every Kenyan group is guilty of - blind tribal loyalty.

He might have something to say.  But it is overwhelmed by the tribal venom.
