The primary qualification for these jobs is Keep the status quo.

If any of the current applicants were absolutely serious in going after mega thieves (EACC) or stopping the massive looting at the IEBC, they would never get the job, let alone make the shortlist.

We have to keep on trying to tinker with the system until we get it right.  All these people are better than the corrupt and arrogant Hassan. Hii ni maendeleo.  This job does not need an arrogant, pompous SOB.  This jobs needs a humble, honest,  hard working patriotic Kenyan.  Lets give one of them a chance with the full knowledge that if they screw it up they will end up in jail or fired before 2022.

Agreed.  But don't forget the primary reason for trying to change them.  For Raila to win.  I am convinced integrity is the least of the concerns of both sides.

That's too cynical.  The primary reason is "free and fair" elections.  There was a measurable  general consensus in the country that Iebc was not only corrupt but incompetent. Not everybody who voiced that opinion was a Raila supporter by any stretch.

The Uhuruto status quo  would benefit more from a credible IEBC that delivers a free and fair elections given the tribal arithmetic and numbers are on their side.  Kenya at large would also benefit from such a free and fair election.

Mutakha, a Raila man will definitely get it, which will cool down the temperatures and enhance perception of free and fair among Raila supporters.

There are always opportunities to change things in areas and circumstances where there are little contentions or interests by elites as Matiang'i is doing in education.

I agree with that.  So there were real issues of integrity around them.  But my point is, when Raila loses, this incoming group is also going to be up for replacement.

What needs to be done is put in a longer term mindset when thinking of such problems as IEBC.  In Kenya, the problem is the corrections are usually made with the next election and Raila's potential performance in it as the yardstick.  It becomes a vicious circle.
